I could see the San Fran City Council trying something similar...

......Fox reports that even the city attorney tried to tell the council the proposal was illegal and violated the First Amendment. In return for his advice, Fox reported that “members tried to fire him.”

Eh - been there, done that, except they actually fired me. Within a year, three had gone to jail and the mayor committed suicide. If I believed in karma, it’d be a bitch...

From the comments section at the article:

Surprise, surprise. Voters in freedom-hating Gould Arkansas
voted 79% for Obama

That idiotic City Council member I’m sure is a rabid Obama supporter and would love to have Obama’s brown shirts enforce a similar law nationwide. The mayor is a hero. Where is the ACLU when it ought to be doing something?

The liberty of the press shall forever remain inviolate. The free communication of thoughts and opinions, is one of the invaluable rights of man; and all persons may freely write and publish their sentiments on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of such right. In all criminal prosecutions for libel, the truth may be given in evidence to the jury; and, if it shall appear to the jury that the matter charged as libelous is true, and was published with good motives and for justifiable ends, the party charged shall be acquitted.

This is in violation of Article 2, Section 6 of the Arkansas State Constitution.

Well if the DOJ was not being run by an affirmative action appointee by a President who shows his total ignorance of the Constitution claiming it is a document of negative liberties (yes negative for GOVERNMENT you Marxist mudslime moron) they would descend on this little town/city and immediately put a stop to such a blatant violation of the First Amendment.

However, as these seem to be Holder's people nothing will take place.

This is 100% the fault of progressive education and a progressive media giving them cover. Boycott every progressive media source.

A town can try anything but the case law is established. See:

Assuming for just a moment the GOP will actually put up a real fight during the next presidential election, a video of these Marxist morons would make a great campaign commercial to illustrate the lengths Progressives will go to retain power.

I’ll not be holding my breath that the country’s salvation will be fought vigorously by the GOP however. They will continue to place nice while allowing the lying Progressives (aka Marxist/communist/socialist) to bombard the ignorant in this country with their lies and half truths. It is just how they campaign.

The Tea Party needs to get behind someone (vet them to the max first) and use the fire in the belly they had in the last mid-term election to make sure we extract as many of these anti-Americans from elected office as possible. The Tea Party knows how to fight in a campaign.

The citizens needs to rid themselves of every council member who thinks they have the right to do this.

The group they tried to ban, Gould Citizens Advisory Council, has been trying to clean up corruption in Gould. I guess they scared the politicians.

Madison sat down with John Leland, one of the founders of the Primitive Baptist denomination, to thrash out the language of the First Amendment.

Abe Lincoln's parents were members of the Primitive Baptist denomination ~ their beliefs and practices are very similar to those of the Christian Church movement (particularly the non-instrumental congregations), and are based on research that sought to recreate the First Century Christianity ~ which, except for the absence of Bishops, gives you something of an Orthodox Christian order of worship.

John Leland later on was involved in the giant cheese story.

He was a polymath into all sorts of things including all the ancient tongues, and whatever science might offer ~ however, he didn't believe in Sunday School or slavery!.

Many of the ancient Greek vespers he translated into English and set to modern music arrangements are still in use. He was the first American composer to actually support himself writing music. Check: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br2D0cFE5Po

People are free to think that Madison authored the Bill of Rights ~ but he didn't do it by himself. The First is distinctly American and is based on a view of Freedom of Thought that pretty well nails its authorship down to John Leland.

Hey, hey, hey, I see a money making opportunity here. Lets get 4 or so to head to this little Marxist enclave (I hate to say it but one of those 4 should be a lawyer YUCK) and carry a few signs saying “Meeting to discuss the city of Gould at Joe's Diner and Possum Palace” .

Then let these IQ and DNA challenged misfits try to have us arrested. Then SUE the pants off the little Marxists.

interesting story.

I still think Patrick Henry and the Anti-Federalists were responsible for the whole Bill of Rights.

Patrick Henry basically prevented ratification of the constitution until it was agreed that a bill of rights would be added. The Federalists conceded this point.

Thank you Patrick Henry, and the Anti-Federalists!
