An Australian gun company 'Metal Storm' is working on it.
"According to Wired, the weapons group is producing a 12-gauge shotgun called the MAUL that will accept several electrically charged cartridges and fire them up to 30 yards away in quick succession."
"Taser founders Tom Smith told the guys at Wired his thoughts in development: "We developed the XREP to provide an extended range for situations where a close approach was dangerous or not possible.”

I must be a bit jaded towards law enforcement. All I see is abuse. When the product is launched start the timer. I’ll be nice and give it a week.
You can buy a potent, wallet sized, multiple use stun gun on ebay for about $10. So why not put one into the equivalent of a 40mm grenade, with multiple 1.5” fishhook needles on the end, designed to penetrate the skin and stay there, while the round continues to discharge until empty.

Imagine this... The ability to fire both a OC spray shell (Pepperball) and an XREP Taser round at the same suspect back to back. Total incapacitation utilizing kinetic, chemical, and electronic methods simultaneously to bring a suspect down. The third and final round is a tranq round.

FWIW, an AMERICAN COMPANY has already created this sort of device based upon the the ubiquitous 12 ga. pump shotgun in service with almost every PD across the nation ! >PS
