Gene McDaniels Dies (singer and songwriter)

A few hours ago, my close friend Gene McDaniels passed away. He was working until the end. A songwriter, artist, producer and extraordinary person, Gene’s first major hit as a recording artist was “A Hundred Pounds of Clay.”

Prayers up for Gene and his loved ones. RIP Gene and thanks for all the great music you gave us.

Nothing captures the feeling of the first decade of rock and roll quite like the sweeping string intro of “A Hundred Pounds of Clay”. RIP Mr. McDaniels, you will be fondly remembered.

Yes I like old time music. Tower of Strength had a really fine brass section too. This gentleman was the real deal.
