Super Congress
The Internet

Posted on 07/31/2011 7:33:21 PM PDT by Hillary's Folly

I realize the Huffington Post is not welcome here, but i quote:

"WASHINGTON -- In order to shore up GOP support for a deal to raise the debt ceiling, Senate Democrats are exploring ways of giving the proposed "super Congress" even greater super powers, according to multiple news reports and congressional aides with knowledge of the plan."

Super sedition.

Super tribunals in due course for all of these usurpers.

This is the subversion of the Constitutional form of representation. This is a putsch by drab gray men in drab gray suits with drab gray souls.

It is a way for members of Congress to avoid responsibility when the tax hikes come up for a vote.

'Super Congress' Idea Floated to Solve Debt Crisis

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his Republican counterpart, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly are working on an idea to create a new bipartisan committee to break the debt-ceiling deadlock.

Such a committee, which some label a “Super Congress” and staffers on Capitol Hill are calling a “super committee,” reportedly would have special powers

Majority/Minority Leader in each House — the way Boehner explained it, it was no different than any other joint committee of Congress.

(I’m not saying it should be approved — however members of the Appropriations Committees have too much power with respect to other members — maybe that’s unconstitutional too.)

I’ve kicked around an idea that every member of Congress would be on the appropriations committee. So if the budget is $435 billion each House member would get $1 billion to spend on whatever he chooses up to the limit of the program’s authorization. A program with $1 billion spending authority can receive no more than $1 billion in appropriations.

It would have to be matched by an appropriation by a Senator. (Consequently each Senator could spend up to $43.5 billion).

Of course the legislators would have to declare their declarations and defend their decisions.

If I may...I am reposting my ideas about this “super congress”.

Well, we have a new kid in town...it is called a bipartisan committee on debt reduction. I think we ought to take advantage of this committee and save a few bucks.

If we are going to allow a few Congressman make the difficult decisions for all the others...why do we need a full Congress. We can layoff both houses and just rule by committee. Essentially, the House and Senate have become obsolete in their attempts at covering their own butts.

Oh yeah, since they are dinosaurs and not needed in the new Amerika....we aren’t going to pay their pensions, healthcare and perks anymore. Think of it this way....you may destroy and steal Soc Security money....but, we will wipe your retirement accounts to zero.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama will come out of this smelling like roses and very much in control.
