GALVESTON — A jogger on Galveston Island discovered a bag in the surf Tuesday containing 25 bricks of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2 million.

The jogger, whose name police are withholding, discovered the bag about 9:30 a.m. near Indian Beach, police spokesman Cpt. Jeff Heyse said.

He lugged the heavy bag to his residence and slashed it open to find 25 bricks of cocaine, each weighing 1 kilogram or 2.2 pounds, bundled in plastic wrap and rubber, Heyse said.

Recognizing the packages as cocaine from television programs, the jogger phoned police, Heyse said.

The guy turned in two million dollars worth of stuff.

I hope he got a free hat or a t-shirt or something.

Don’t go to the beach tomorrow.

It is going to be crowded.

Mostly, he didn’t get dead or arrested....

It’s tough finding a streetcorner to break into that business....as the locals are rather territorial....

Now, if he’d found the bag with the other end of that deal....$$$$$.....that requires much thought....
Starting with “who saw me drag this home?”

Right. He is jogging along, sees trash in the surf, drags home a plus-fifty pound bag? Color me skeptical.

It happened to me 20 years ago in FL, only it was a bail of weed. (and very soggy)
Another couple found 2 more and had called beach patrol.

Dragging a big bag of money home would be the first mistake.

You drag it somewhere else secure and secluded and bury it.

Then lay low for awhile.

I suppose that this Miami, FL story is unrelated, but it makes you wonder...

In England they’d arrest you for possession. The law is the law.

He’s probably lucky he didn’t get busted for something. I sure as heck am not going to call the cops into my house telling them I have 25 kilos of cocaine. Cop: “Hey what do you have all those guns for? You better sit in the squad car while we search the rest of your house.”

I think I would dump it and let some other poor schmuck find it. Don’t forget what happened to the 11 year old girl who rescued the woodpecker.

Bales of Cocaine by the Reverend Horton Heat

Well, I was workin' on my farm 'bout 1982,
Pullin' up some corn and a little carrot, too
When two low-flying aeroplanes, 'bout a hundred feet high
Dropped a bunch o' bales o' somethin', some hit me in the eye...

So I cut a bale open, an' man was I surprised
Bunch o' large sized baggies, with big white rocks inside
So I took a little sample to my crazy brother Joe
He sniffed it up and kicked his heels, said, "Horton, that's some blow!"

Bales of cocaine, fallin' from low-flyin' plane
I don't know who done dropped 'em, but I thank 'em just the same
Bales of cocaine, fallin' like the pourin' rain
My life changed completely by the low-flyin' planes

So I loaded up them bales in my pick-em-up truck,
Headed west for Dallas, where I would try my luck
I didn't have a notion if I could sell 'em there,
But, thirty minutes later, I was a millionaire...

And now I am a rich man, but I'm still a farmer, too
But I sold my farm in Texas, bought a farm down in Peru
And when get so homesick, I think I'm goin' insane,
I travel back to Texas in a low-flyin' plane...

I hate drug dealers — they use the metric system.

You're thinking retail.

With a quantity like fifty pounds, you go wholesale.

I saw it on TV.

More likely, he found 30 bricks and reported finding 25 bricks.

I would’ve stashed it with my SHTF gear. That could come in handy in the event of a complete break down of law and order.

Just like liquor.

Gold and silver, yes, thanks Glenn Beck, but there are
some other things that would have great value if-and-when.
