Space may be the final frontier, but Star Trek is a well-explored universe by now. Captain Kirk, the Enterprise, transporters, phasers, tricorders and Klingons are part of our common language. But there's still tons of insane stuff you've never heard about Trek.

1. Orginally, NBC did not like Mr. Spock - they did not think he was a very believable character, and wanted him written out of the show.
2. Rodenberry talked about how he was in negotiations with Paramount for the first Star Trek movie (which wasn't released until 1979.) He said the studio was insisting on replacing all of the cast members from the TV show with a number of big name movie stars who were popular at the time. Rodenberry said he wouldn't do the movie unless they used the original cast.
Yes, but there was a 2nd option to stop the horror of today. When Dick Butkus said “no” when the GOP tapped him to run. Then Butkus idiotically regretted that decision afterwards when he saw the damage that is Obama..
I always wanted to name my dog Harcourt Fenton Mudd.
Maybe the next one.
My last one was Clever Jake.
“We do not talk about that!” Worf
I’m loving the commentary below the article on Why Women and Girls Found Spock Sexy. I was one of those little girls of — what, 9? — who was madly in love with Spock. My first three crushes were Abraham Lincoln, Johnny Cash, and Spock and all three of them, to me (at the time) seemed like noble characters with lofty ideals and faraway gazes. Plus they had big noses and black hair, which I am a sucker for, for some reason. But no one seems to have figured out that this air of distant, tragic nobility is just mesmerizing to some females...
Ensign Kevin Riley mentioned the bowling alley in "The Naked Time" (I am such a nerd...)
As I recall from the SciFi channel special edition of STTOS some years ago, Shatner stated in an interview that the chairs on the bridge came from his kitchen.
The stupid republican’s that ran a senile old bugger Mccain gave us Obama....Just like they ran another old bugger Dole against Clinton (I think) They certainly deserve the title The Stupid Party, but 7 of 9 is a looker...I liked her character also....
My favorite part of the Muppets.
“Women think being smart is sexy!”
Bull Pucky.
Women think having pointed ears and no emotions is sexy.
The unreachable and unattainable has always been a source of pining in love.
Just ask the bright kid in school if he’s deluged with hot offers.
Don't you mean Two of Thirty-Six?
Probably. In The IDIC Epidemic, the Federation is trying to conceal information about a plague which doesn’t affect Klingons, only to find out at the end that the Klingons wouldn’t have used it as a weapon because the plague is deadly to their ruling class.
It was really good, and it was part of a set of two by Jean Lorrah. The first one was The Vulcan Academy Murders.
I’d take the holodeck over the bowling alley. Heeheehee
The one I was thinking about was named Andrea. She was built by Dr. Corby, unsure of the spelling. She was also seen with the huge android in some scenes.
