It may happen just in time for Count Barackula to cancel the 2012 elections...
But there are also reports of possible solar hibernation.
How many times have they predicted this? I recall just last week we had some posts predicting the ‘super solar storm’ that hit this weekend was going to knock everything out. Yea, there may be one sometime that is powerful enough, that happens to be pointed in the right direction, and happens to be the right polarity. The odds are against it. Some people just like to drum up and have people live in fear- probably mostly so they can get people to pay attention to them.
Global chaos and COMPLETE darkness??? Suits me as long as I’ve got my A/C.
I saw that image and thought we were about to go dark, then I
saw that it was a composite of multiple flares and thought what a B.S story. That said it is quite possible.
IMPOSSIBLE.
The pseudo-scientific pretend super-rationalists
won’t allow it.
Walk on by. Nothing here. Just a rumor. Kook stuff. Fergit it. etc.
Insert standard approved naysaying rants here.
I think a lot of the skepticism on this thread is because the source, NOAA, has a long history of pimping AGW. Cry wolf once, no one believes you if an actual wolf shows up later.
But one only needs to read up a bit on the solar storms of the 1850s to realize another such storm could cause massive problems. Back then, the only technology to be impacted was telegraph lines. Things are vastly different now.
(BTW, quix, you could take the lesson of crying wolf to heart yourself).
Well, such a storm did happen in the 1850s, and that is pretty recent history.
But, as you noted, the usual suspects run around crying wolf, and then wonder why folks quit listening to them when the wolves fail to show up. Let alone the problem that a wolf will show up one day and folks will be so jaded to alarmist bullcrap that they won't be prepared for it.
And that applies at many levels of science and society.
I don’t understand God’s 2000 long “soon.”
Some say it has to do with the day of The Lord = 1,000 years.
I don’t know.
I know He doesn’t lie.
I know unprecedented super devastating things are on the near horizon.
I know God’s unprecedented majesty and power demonstrations are also on the near horizon.
Well, obammy’s talking about massive spending on the infrastructure. This is what you would call a government agency positioning itself for a piece of the loot.
Did you hear Obammy claiming he wants big money for a new infrastructure stimulous? That is what this is about.
You have an agency positioning itself for a piece of the pie and planting seeds of fear in the public so they will demand Republicans spend more trillions we don’t have.
Get used to all the agencies selling fear so the people will support Obama’s spending demands for “safety.” You are going to hear about collapsing bridges, exploding water and gas pipes, etc. It will be hysterics extraordinare!
At a minimum . . . for starters.
Noah preached many decades of rain falling from the sky when it had NEVER happened before.
One day . . . absurdly late . . . to probably a number of folks . . .
the rains fell.
The scoffers ended up outside the ark.
NONE of their descendants are around.
------------
I still think the Ararat Ark is more likely the real one . . . time will tell. These are interesting pics and studies of the Iranian one--I think it's in Iran.
And tell me, Quix, just what does that have to do with this subject?
There was a bad solar storm in 1859 - so it HAS happened before, so the real question is just what impact would such a storm have upon our modern infrastructure?
But there also were conspirazoids running around last week with an M-class flare approaching Earth (and M-class is not even the strongest class of flare) making a big deal out of it - and not much happened.
It really would be nice if you could attempt something remotely resembling actually sticking to the subject at hand for a change.
That would mess up your expectations something fierce!
BTW, I think the long periods of warning God seems to fond of . . .
does achieve one thing interesting . . .
those not deeply and intensely motivated to seek GOD—HIS PERSON, to seek God’s face and to seek God’s TRUTH
fall by the wayside.
Only the fiercely focused and discerning ferret out the gold out of the rocks.
As to the subject . . . you raised the subject of predictions, prophecies etc. seemingly never materializing.
Complete utter BS drummed up to do nothing up instill fear in the masses.
President Boosh is so passé.
It’s the Tea Party’s fault.
Personally, I didn’t know we had that kind of power - Yea for us!
Well, I thought that this post required a response.
“(BTW, quix, you could take the lesson of crying wolf to heart yourself).”
I think the Noah post is in keeping with YOUR post on this thread.
Could it be that YOUR post was a bit off the mark? Hmmm?
