(Reuters) - If you are angry that someone spoiled the plot of a movie or revealed the ending of a book, don't be.
A new study by researchers from the University of California at San Diego shows spoilers may enhance enjoyment, even for suspense-driven story lines and film plots.

Oh come on don't be angry? What a worthless study. Most times, in retrospect if I was spoiled I wouldn't have have enjoyed the plot as much... and their "study" says otherwise?

It takes a very good drama to hold your interest even if you know the end. For example, everyone knew that Apollo 13 landed safely (well, maybe some idiots didn't), but the movie still kept most people on the edge of their seats.

I always read the end of the book first.
I like to know how the movie ends, or what twist is included.
But I know that most people do not feel that way. Most people think I'm strange and warn me not to give away any details, because they much prefer to be surprised.

Spoilers do ruin some very engaging TV shows.
I made the mistake of reading about the end of season two of Breaking Bad, and I no longer felt like finishing those episodes because the surprise was lost.

You are correct I enjoyed the Apollo 13 movie, but it was written as how they did it just like Columbo - how he caught them.

Why was such a trivial study conducted and at who’s expense.
Rome is burning and all we are getting are more fiddle solos.

Bruce Willis is dead, the chick is really a guy, and Maximus kills the Emperor, then dies.
Sorry.

Funny you say that. The Sixth Sense was one movie I saw where I was glad that I knew nothing about the movie when I went to see it.

1.) The study is BS.
2.) The subject was not worthy of a study.

I once told a friend who was going to see “Titanic” that the ship sinks in the end, they didn’t talk to me for weeks after that.

...the chick is really a guy... I didn't know that when I went to see it, but I guessed it....her (his) hands were the give-away. I turned to the lady I was with and said, "Those aren't guy's hands." to which she replied, "Don't be silly." lol

It's people! People!
Now will someone please spoil Blade Runner for me? I still haven't figured out if Deckard is a replicant also.

He’s a replicant.
There’s supposed to be a recurring dream of a unicorn (which is part of the preset memory set given to replicants), and the origami unicorn from the guy at the end is the clue - but the film got so hacked about that people practically have to read the novel.

This is really good to know, now how much of this study was paid by a government grant?
