The two men are good friends, and Perry was the only Republican governor in the country to endorse Giulianis presidential campaign in 2008. Payback could benefit Perry on a number of fronts most notably fundraising and would likely strengthen his status as a top-tier candidate if he decides to run.First and most importantly, Giuliani has deep connections in the New York City Republican money world.
Perry has never had to raise money under federal contribution limits $2,500 for the primary and $2,500 for the general election is all any single donor can give and would have to change his model of finding a handful of major donors who can write huge checks to one centered around big bundlers who can collect hundreds of smaller checks.
His fundraising base in Texas gives Perry a foothold in one of the most donor-rich states in the country. With Giuliani making introductions for him in New York City, Perry would almost certainly have the financial foundation he would need to make a credible run particularly given some of the less-than-inspiring sums reported over the past three months by his would-be rivals for the nomination.

That would be a powerful ticket. Talk about projecting strength. Ok, now you can go ahead and tell me about how Rudy is a communist.
Is having an alliance with Giuliani any better or worse than having one with John McCain?
I’ll take Rudy any day over John McLame.
He’s not a communist. He’s liberal and corrupt.
That's a very good question. Although Giuliani did take a few conservative stances as Mayor I still consider him to be a RINO. I'd prefer to see him in the Justice Department. Nothing higher.
Whatever his policy differences with the GOP conservatives, Rudy is the greatest inspirational leader in recent times. Koch started the NY turnaround, and Rudy completed it. Bloomburg can enjoy the benefits of what they accomplished. I saw Rudy in the days after 9-11. He personified the feelings and unbending spirit of all true Americans. If he’s on Rick Perry’s team then that’s a huge plus.
What spices do you use when you Eat your own?
Please spare me Lord ... They know not what they do
It will be a big drag on Perry. The only reason Giuliani isn’t in jail is because his crimes did not come to light until after the statutes of limitations had run out.
There is plenty more that makes Giuliani unsuitable for office. For one thing the real heroes of 9-11 will Swift Boat him.
Giuliani isn’t one of my own. He’s pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and anti-Second Amendment, just for starters.
Practically every inspirational person has had warts. Only one did not.
Rick Perry/Rudy Giuliani equals “The RINO Ticket”, and it would help boost ALL of the truly non-RINO candidates for ‘12 POTUS, IMHO. Also, having Rick Perry in the race damages all of the other RINO candidates in the race.
Oh, goody, another Giuliani bug-zapper thread.
If you keep Rudy away from the social issues, he can be quite an asset politically. I don’t know if he and Perry are really that close or whether Perry simply found Rudy more presidential than Romney, Huckabee or McCain. Rudy still had that “America’s Mayor” vibe going at the time.
I do think Perry has networked rather well without relying on the Bush Beltway clique. He’s been governor long enough to have made connections in most of the critical states.
Not every “inspirational” person is corrupt.
Rudy is all hype. Here’s just one instance.
“As United States Attorney, I investigated the Leon Klinghoffer murder by Yasir Arafat,” he told the Jewish audience, referring to the infamous 1985 slaying of a wheelchair-bound, 69-year-old New York businessman aboard the Achille Lauro, an Italian ship hijacked off the coast of Egypt by Palestinian extremists. “It’s honestly the reason why I knew so much about Arafat,” says Giuliani. “I knew, in detail, the Americans he murdered. I went over their cases.”
On the contrary, Victoria Toensing, the deputy assistant attorney general at the Justice Department in Washington who filed a criminal complaint in the Lauro investigation, says that no one in Giuliani’s office “was involved at all.” Jay Fischer, the Klinghoffer family attorney who spearheaded a 12-year lawsuit against the PLO, says he “never had any contact” with Giuliani or his office. “It would boggle my mind if anyone in 1985, 1986, 1987, or thereafter conducted an investigation of this case and didn’t call me,” he adds. Fischer says he did have a private dinner with Giuliani in 1992: “It was the first time we talked, and we didn’t even talk about the Klinghoffer case then.”
Victoria Toensing has no reason to lie and has great credentials as a conservative. But this is just the tip of the Rudy iceberg.
Rudy may be some things but your are stretching it to a point that invalidates anything credible you may say. He’s not corrupt - he was a fighter against corruption.
So much so I’d love to see him as AG in 2013 and go after the barry administration.
The New York District Attorney said he couldn’t indict Giuliani because the statutes of limitations had run out.
He used NYPD officers to drive his strumpet and her friends on shopping trips and other outings. I’ll ignore having them walk her dog for now.
A NY state official was tried and convicted for having his driver drive his blind wife to her doctor at about the time Rudy used the NYPD as a taxi service for his bimbo.
You may not call misuse of city property and employees corrupt but NY law does.
Guiliani should be an American and support who he will, with all his vigor.
But, he should never be considered for a ticket position.
He went from America’s Mayor to an American Panderer when dealing with Barry.
I don’t want to hear anymore Shiite about how Barry is “O.K.”.
“F” that Tard.
He is an anethma to American ideals. A loser deluxe and Tuesday is coming up so he can drive his car around the estate.
I only want to hear from candidates who will excoriate Barry. Everything he stands for and all he has done.
FU Barry Hole....
Now that’s funny!
