A west suburban man has been charged with killing his father with a weed trimmer as he slept early Sunday.
Yashesh S. Desai, 21, of Woodridge is charged with first-degree murder for the death of his 47-year-old father Sanjiv J. Desai, a release from the DuPage County States Attorneys office said.
About 3 a.m. Sunday, Woodridge police responded to the home after getting a 911 call from Desais brother telling authorities that Yashesh Desai had just killed his father.
Sanjiv Desai was suffering from massive head wounds when emergency crews arrived. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors allege the elder Desai was sleeping on a futon in the computer room of his home when Yashesh Desai struck him multiple times in the head with a weed trimmer, resulting in severe trauma to his head. Yashesh Desai was arrested at the scene.
He is scheduled for a bond hearing at the DuPage County Courthouse on Monday afternoon. He faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.

How would you like to do time with that guy?
When are you ever going to sleep?

Doesn’t look like the sharpest pencil in the box. Perhaps he took it literally when his father told him that if he didn’t get his bushy hair cut, his father would have to do it with a weed wacker.

One could start a new movie craze based upon this reported set of facts. It would be called the "Illinois Weed Whacker Massacre." It would involve a bunch of wisecracking teens out on a frolic who stop at this gentleman's place. The whacker appears wearing a Hindu Terror mask and picks off the teens one by one. The Weed Whacker removing eyeballs and disemboweling voluptuous females. How could such a movie fail!

As one of my rather racist buddies in high school used to say: ‘Is he a push-start or a pull-start?’.

Okay, have to say it...
When weed-whackers are outlawed, only outlaws will have weed-whackers.

Sounds like dad didn't have a chance to get his trimmer out, to defend himself.
