Obviously Miami deserves the death penalty for football. Just as obviously, Miami won't get what it deserves because the NCAA is too scared to do it.
That's my position, and it's based on two suppositions -- suppositions I'm more than comfortable making. Supposition One: The crux of Yahoo's Pulitzer-caliber reporting on Miami's decade of decadence is correct. Supposition Two: The primary source of that report, former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro, is telling mostly the truth. I don't need every accusation out of his mouth to be true to write the first sentence of this story. If every other accusation out of his mouth is true -- heck, if every fourth accusation out of his mouth is true -- I stand by my first sentence:

The NCAA needs the NFL and NBA to have minor leagues. That way athletes that want to make money have an option to do so and also make some money and free up scholarships for people that actually want to attend a college.
If Miami’s program doesn’t get the Death Penalty...SMU should sue the NCAA’s pants off!!
And for Congress to survive, it couldn’t impeach perjurer Clinton.
Give Donna’s Hurricanes the death penalty. They haven’t been relevant since she took over anyway. Nobody will miss them.
I thought Donna Shalala promised a clean Miami program.
I thought Donna Shalala promised a clean Miami program.
Given the very sordid history of University of Miami football since the early 1980's and now Nevin Shapiro blatantly violating NCAA rules between 2002 and 2010, this is all the grounds for the NCAA to drop the hammer on the school once and for all. Besides, all those high school players in Dade and Broward counties are already heavily recruited by SEC schools, other ACC schools, Texas and increasingly PAC 12 schools, so ending Miami's program won't be that big a loss anyway.
Miami is toast..the best thing they can do now is to suspend the 12 players who are implicted IMMEDIATELY. And fire Shalala.
Also, they've known about this for ove a year, they when they hire the new AD and new football coach, it wasn't disclosed to them. You may see the coach walk. Miami won't be able to recruit worth a damns..because of the threat of penalties and sanctions.
Remember, the former AD was the HEAD of the NCAA infractions committee that investigated USC and Reggie Busch.
The MIami/Ohio State game...will be a hoot..the Ineligibowl..
Remember Notre Dame-Miami was dubbed Catholics vs Criminals? Some things change....some don’t.

BS. Miami wouldn’t be missed....They barely draw 30,000 to their home games. They don’t have the thug wannabes riding on their bandwagon anymore. They belong in Division I-AA.
Considering that FSU tries to recruit just about every player that ended up at Miami, one has to wonder how clean is FSU?
College football is a BIG money-maker for the top football schools. They WANT that revenue stream.
Yes, it would be better for the college players if they actually played for a minor-league team, possibly affiliated with a college, and got paid openly rather than under the table. Then they could focus on being a player rather than juggle football and school, maybe taking a part-time course load. After two or three years of playing they will know if an NFL contract is not in the cards, and can drop football and go back to classes full time with a nice amount of money in their account.
What's to wonder? Duhhhh...
The NCAA won’t survive without Miami? BS! They get, what? 10 or 11 people in for a football game? It won’t survive unless they DON’T give them the death penalty. Otherwise, it’s proof of blatant favoritism and the rest of the schools will be up in arms—as they should be.
Free Shoes University? Either Bobby Bowden had some very incriminating evidence on people in the NCAA hierarchy, or they really loved him! FSU should've been on major probation numerous times, but somehow dodged it. Bowden's gone and so is FSU's protection.
Yeah, and Auburn too - after losing their high profile QB last year after his Daddy admitted he sold him......oh wait, nevermind.
