Now I have an LG cell phone which I've had for about the last 8 months. When I first got it, the battery would last for up to five days or so before I needed to put it on the charger.
In the last ten days or so, that was not the case. It was dying after about two days. So I ordered a new battery.
Then I did some googling and one of the first things that popped up was "TURN BLUETOOTH OFF!!!"
Checked my phone, and sure enough, I had forgot to turn it off last time I was transferring pics to my desktop. Recharged the phone and it's hunky dory now.
So I figured I'd let FReepers know, if your Ph has Bluetooth, looks to me like it takes more power than if you were actually making calls the whole time! Might be a security issue as well. So TURN IT OFF!!

Bluetooth and Wifi (not so much standard cell air connections) KILL batteries.
You can also get extended life batteries for most PDA/phone combos these days (except, of course, iPhone, which is hermetically sealed on Funk & Wagnall’s porch).
I used to have a Samsung and that thing died all the time. But I had a very weak signal here, so it might have been just that it was pinging the towers all the time. Thinking back on it, BT might have been on the whole time...
The other thing that will drin batteries quickly is when you’re in an area with no coverage (boonies) and your phone is searching for a signal. I just shut mine off until I get back in range.
For iphones 3 and 4 I used to have and for a droid phone I have now - having Blue Tooth ear piece on 24/7 - except when charging both - is not a battery drain for either one... I charge both units and I am good to go - for 8 hours or more ... I don’t use other forms of Blue Tooth connections so I do know about that.
Technology keeps advancing, so who knows? Sounds like they have ways of making it not use as much power.

Heh! Bluetooth headsets and a 6-month-old PALM smartphone?
Death to the phone in about an hour.....without use.
My iPhone? No issues at all.
My phone has a blue tooth sleep option
only draw back is that you can’t discover it when it is at sleep and it times out pretty quick once the screen dims due to inactivity.
Never had an LG, I have a Nokia .... rather plain but well perfected phone
Also, don’t forget about that GPS that may be in the phone...
I have a Motorola Atrix Droid phone (used to have iPhone 3 then 4. In the past I used a Motorola Blue tooth ear piece... in the past two years I have used a Jawbone Blue Tooth ear piece microphone / speaker. As an aside I consider the Jawbone to be the very best such device on the market - bar none. After I worked out a charging schedule for the phone and Blue Tooth devices - I practically never have any battery problems. I also have a USB cable charger with cigarette lighter connector for my truck - seldom to I have to use it. The Jawbone BT last for up to 4 hours with normal use and is quick charging. The Atrix last about 8 hours with average voice use. If I use a GPS road map for travel it uses the battery much faster. But since I am in the truck for a long period - I just put it on the charger. Any heavy Web Browsing will use the battery faster - but I don’t do much of that nor do I used it heavily for Facebook or such. I find that Qik Video - face to face video phone uses up the battery much quicker... But I keep that to a minimum.
