MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Sarah Palin urged Tea Party members on Monday to avoid infighting and focus on removing President Barack Obama from office.
The former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate, speaking at a Tea Party rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, also continued to tease supporters on whether she would join the Republican presidential competition.
"This is not the time to hunker down and preach to the choir," she said. "Now is the time to grow this movement."
Her comments followed a protest on Sunday by FreedomWorks, a force behind the Tea Party movement, aiming to prevent inclusion of Republican hopeful Mitt Romney at a rally held in Concord, New Hampshire, by the Tea Party Express.
FreedomWorks and some other Tea Party backers oppose the healthcare reform plan implemented by Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts. They saw his decision to speak to a Tea Party rally as a late-coming attempt to boost his standing with a movement he has until now held at arms length.
"We don't have time to be bogged down in internal conflicts," Palin said, adding that all candidates should be heard, including "those who are humble enough to admit they need you and have seen the light."
Dressed in crimson, Sarah faced an intermittent chorus of "Run, Sarah, Run," to which she said, simply, "I appreciate your encouragement."
Palin has said she will likely announce her plans before the end of September.
Rod Silverwood, a Palin activist who was handing out leaflets and collecting signatures at a booth at Palin's event on Monday, is working on the assumption she will run.
"We believe she'll pick a day to announce that has some meaning to the nation," he said. "We think September 17, Constitution Day, would be logical because her message has been about restoring America to the basic concept of what the constitution is about."
Despite Palin's vocal core of support, however, recent polls suggest other Tea Party favorites are gaining momentum.
A Gallup poll in August showed Texas Gov. Rick Perry overtaking Romney as the front-runner for the Republican nomination, with 29 percent of Republicans saying they are most likely to support Perry, and 17 percent likely for Romney.
If Palin does not enter the race herself, some expect her to throw her weight behind Perry, who won 35 percent of the vote among Tea Party supporters in the Gallup poll. Romney and Rep. Michele Bachmann each received 14 percent.

I hope all heed her very sage advice.
I would add a further goal: we must support the ascendancy of the Tea Party at all levels of government. Next year’s election isn’t only about the Presidency and the federal Congress; it’s also about state legislatures and local school boards. A myopic focus on the federal presidency can make one lose sight of the bigger picture.
And have seen the light?
Does anyone think Romney has seen the light? Seen the light like John McCain whose experience of seeing the light was so very temporary? That kind of seeing the light? I don’t think so.
Job 1 needs to be taking back the Senate and filling it with TEA minded conservatives who will overturn the years of Rat atrocities.
Job 2 is strengthing the House with TEA minded conservatives to aid the Senate in that goal.
Job 3 would be the presidency. Really.
Obama has already defeated himself. It’s just a question of finding a real Conservative to lead in the above efforts. A RINO is not the answer.

Totally Agree: The GOP is picking a President not a candidate let’s choose well.
Even more important than the White House is retaining the House and capturing the do-nothing, obstructionist Senate from Harry and his hooligans.

Maybe shrieking abuse at other FReepers isn't the way forward? Perhaps you could add 'not insulting other FReepers' to your bright palette of colors? Does that sound good?
Would you heed her advice if Paul were to win the Republican nomination? (Not that I think he has much of a chance to do so)

This is NOT a done deal. BHO’s defeated himself in OUR eyes, but the fact is there are many millions who disagree and will vote for him again - for a myriad of reasons.
The Wan, his posse of radical, ruthless strategists, thuggish supporters and the complicit, unprincipled media are working overtime to divide us, hoping to incite bad behavior, then gleefully publicize it all repeatedly. And we’d better stop falling for it.
We face a formidable enemy and the only way to rid our country of it is to choose a candidate who can defeat BHO in the minds of enough voters.
The worst of our side is still ten times better than b. hussein and after we’ve done all we can to promote our own favorites, we either unite behind our nominee in large enough numbers as the Left will unite behind theirs, or BHO returns to finish the deadly job he started, only faster and more openly than before.
We’ve just got to win back the WH - AND put as many conservatives in Congress and Senate as possible - if we’re to have a chance at restoring America. The road will be long and difficult.
But first we MUST get BHO out.

I see zero Obama ‘08 stickers. I see zero Obama ‘12 stickers.
I hear constant anti-O conversations and regret by those who voted for him. He won overwhelming in my area. They won’t support him this time.
I live in a city with many minorites expressing their anger at O. I get out and about, so it isn’t just we political people who believe he can’t win.
Others need to chime in on their areas, but I’m guessing the response will be the same. Detroit is the possible exception which is why he made his jobs speech there among the welfare and government largess parasites. :)
