Didn’t see the debate. Shopped around the net for a new holster instead.

“She gets tons of attention via Facebook and Twitter and wherever she goes...”

There are three registered Republicans in my household, and tons in my family/circle of friends. None use twitter, few use Facebook, and those who DO use Facebook do not follow politicians on it.

Found your twin! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Kael#Alleged_Nixon_quote

So she does well with her fans. You call that “vetting”?

***

We knew more about Palin in 1 week than we still know about Obama. That’s not vetting?

Agreed. Romney by a mile and I am not a supporter either. Wow-that was painful to type. Very underwhelming performance by Perry.

I’m all for Palin getting in, and even winning the nomination, but I really hate discrediting the others by stating Palin “wins.”

There is something to be said about showing up, and paying your dues. Right now Palin isn’t doing that ...yes, she’s unconventional — but we DO have traditions in this country — I have great respect for all who showed up to this debate, and who are out activily campaigning and taking these risks.

This debate was Perry’s chance for a big splash introduction to the country...............it failed.

I don't know about that. I thought he did pretty darn well considering how drunk he was.

The thing that you have to understand about Perry is that there is no real Perry under that skin.

He has no strong beliefs drawn from a conservative’s analytical understanding, because he is an un-differentiated politician, not a conservative.

I really am not a fan of Romney....however, I liked what he said about barry....HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING...

Which is one reason I like Palin better after this debate. She has never once, that I recall, accused BO of not knowing what he's doing, though she has accused him of having a totally different vision for what America should be. And that is the more honest, accurate assessment, IMHO. He knows exactly what he's doing. So either Mittens doesn't get that, or he does get it but just wants to play along with the popular notion that its about incompetence but not vision. Either way, he diminishes himself as lacking either perception or honesty. That's a lose lose scenario, and Palin comes out ahead.

I think the Palin supporters said, early on in this thread, that she won the debate and people are responding to that.

Now that was funny.............

Palin’s paid plenty of dues. Anyone on that stage tonight, have 24,000 of their emails delivered to blatant political adversaries at the Washington Post and NYT in a truck load of boxes?

Let the greenhorns take some flak for a couple debates, then start even.

(sigh)

I hate it when a good old self-righteous indignant rant, turns out to deserve a Rosanne Rosana-dana soundbite.

Thank you for that info.

Newt was the smartest person in the room, and did very well considering he only had a handful of opportunities to talk. I think Romney may have closed the gap some between him and Perry, mainly because Perry did not live up to his front runner status. Bachmann is done, I hate to say because I was an early supporter of hers. Cain will hang in for awhile and may move up a few notches.

Romney & Perry were close with Romney a slice better but as in the 1st debate - as much as I have put him down NEWT has won both debates IMO. Those 3 are the candidates unless Sarah gets in.

There is something to be said about showing up, and paying your dues.

Traditionally candidates didn't throw their hat into the ring for the Presidency until after Labor Day. This nonstop campaigning is wearisome.
