That is becoming a treasonous term of language. These people are just as dependent on the government as those on welfare or other social programs. In fact some of these "career politicians" have never had a job outside of the government so how do they really know what the people that they are to represent really need or want?

I don’t really see many tweets, but those two crack me up. It’s why Twitter is such a waste of space. You cannot say anything of substance in such a short space. And if you actually CAN, you’ve created a famous quote. That’s why they’re famous.

His comments remind me of George Carlin talking about earth shattering revelations when stoned. He wrote one down. It would be a good tweet:

This is exactly what Sarah Palin talked about in her recent speech.

Did Sarah Palin really say that? Wow.

She made three interlocking points. First, that the United States is now governed by a “permanent political class,” drawn from both parties, that is increasingly cut off from the concerns of regular people. This is a ploy (either cynical or clever, depending on your viewpoint) to disarm the media idiots who have already written their articles chock full of Obama and DNC talking points about Republicans sabotaging Dear Leader’s plan to fix the economy. The MFM sincerely wants to blame the Repubs for all of Obama’s failings. They are counting on being able to use the phony narrative that Obama has scripted for them. Cantor is not going to let them get away with it that easily.

It’s Cantor’s way of appearing to be “bipartisan”, as a direct response to neuter Obama’s pretense at being bipartisan. This allows the Republicans to say “yes, of course we are doing exactly what Obama called for in his ‘historic’ speech before both houses of Congress”, to take all the wind out of Obama’s sails as he campaigns around the country on the theme of “bad Republicans are destroying your future”. I can guarantee that Cantor’s view of what are smart infrastructure investments differs completely from the phony Dem/Obama view of what are smart “investments”. It allows the Republicans to actually get on with the business of cutting the legs out of the Obama policies that are gutting the economy, while seemingly working hand in hand with Dear Leader.

In other words, this is Kabuki theater, staged for the benefit of the leftist idiots in the MSM and for “moderates” who don’t know what to think until somebody tells them what to think. It does not make any sense for FR posters to become overwrought about this...

I really have to wonder what the GOP game is. They threw fits about Bachmann having the audacity to speak out against it.

The Republican game plan is to give 0bama about 90% of what he wants in that bill. They will hold back on the 10% which is the worst. They will make sure that there are just enough Republican votes to pass the bill (ensuring that every Democrat must vote for it).

The Republicans know that departmental infighting will ensure that very little of the money is spent before next November's election and that the program will fail. But...by passing it, the Republicans will be able to claim that 0bama and the Democrats own the economy (which will be no better off in November 2012). Its an election ploy to show that 0bama and the Democrats have no idea how to straighten out the economy.

Cantor was arguing that the Feds shouldn’t control the transportation money. He calls for taking transportation designated money out of the Feds hands and putting it in state hands.

Read it before you go off on Cantor. He’s a good guy. Sheesh!

Still, getting hysterical over this tweet is ridiculous. The Republican strategy is to look like we take the jobs crisis as seriously as Hussein and appear reasonable and willing to consider what he's proposed.

Rejecting everything Obama said immediately would be to fall directly into the Democrats "do nothing congress" campaign strategy. Instead we will end up agreeing to some of the tax cuts and oppose most of the rest. Like it or not, polling almost always indicates people want the party's in government to "work together". Appear completely intransigent and Obama's claim that the Republicans won't work with him at all will gain traction and he goes from the failed President, to the President who has solutions but can't get the Republicans to help save the economy - at least in the minds of many in the mushy middle.

The GOP will have their own items to throw in the bill so the final total will be close to the $450 billion.

They will proudly claim that they have only asked for 10% of the total so that when it fails they will still be able to pin that on 0bama. Additionally, since the money in the bill will need to go through the appropriations process the GOP can drag out the process for a few months ensuring very little of the money is spent before 0bama leaves office...then when a Republican president takes over he/she can ask Congress to re-apprpriate the money in a way that meets their goals.

Just because The Obamunist wants infrastructure doesn't automatically make it a bad idea. There are bridges, tunnels, etc. that need maintenance and replacement Not every state is going to hand the work to Union Slugs - just the dump ones.
