What is Palin doing and why is she letting us down

Posted on 09/12/2011 6:26:10 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I have a strong supporter off Governor Palin since 2009. and I have been attacked for that at times here on FR.

It feels like she is leaving us hanging. Those of us who donated money and support to her over the last few years have a right to know where is this going. I used to be angry with the media, but now im somewhat unsure with her as well because she is not fighting back on their side of the 50. She hasn't been on tv debating liberals and getting in the mix. Why isn't she trying to change the unfair media image.

I can't understand why she would let the support she has slip between her fingers. I can't understand why she is not trying to gain more support.

The truth is, she doesn’t want to announce the truth that she is NOT going to run because her support and influence will dry up and she’ll be irrelevant except as a circuit speaker. Good money there, but the camera goes away. She doesn’t have the infrastructure or the funding to launch a campaign, and I personally think it’s pretty sorry how she is leading a bunch of good people on.

There are so many things wrong with that statement that I do not know where to begin. Palin already has the contract with Fox News and stands to make plenty of money even if she doesn't run. She is not making "extra" money by keeping us in the dark about her plans. In fact, she turned down millions of dollars to renew the "Palin in Alaska" TV show - why would she turn that easy money down if she wasn't planning on running and was only interested in money?

If Palin gets into the race, infrastructure and funding will not be an issue.

If Perry or Bachman can win, I don't think she'll run. If she sees them destroyed, she'll step in.

You sir are 100 percent correct. Palin is first a patriot and politician second. The longer she can draw the fire of the liberal media is good. It keeps the heat off the person that will be the nominee.

So long as Perry looks strong she will not go for it. If it looks like Romney will win she will throw her hat into the ring.

In the last 2-1/2 years the media has wasted countless tons of ink and paper and air time on Palin. Each and every one of those hours and ink could have been an attack on conservatives in general. If the object of attack is Palin and she does not run, the time and money the media spent is wasted. It is a little bit like baseball and war. A sacrifice fly to deep center field brings the winning run home. A feint on the battle field makes the enemy mass it troops in the wrong place and god help those that were part of the feint.

The successful Normandy invasion was successful due to this tactic. The Germans thought the invasion would be at Calis. The allies had amassed a fake invasion force that looked like it was going to Calis. Thank God the Germans bought the feint. Otherwise Normandy would have been most horrid. Our losses at Normandy were actually quite light as compared to what could have happened. However each and every loss was tragic but unavoidable.

It's not healthy to hang ALL your hopes on one person, especially one who has said all along that she's not sure she's ready for a campaign for President. I will be thrilled if she decides to run, and would campaign for her wholeheartedly. But if she decides now is not the best time for her, or her family, I'll understand completely.

I'm not excited about any of the other guys, but will vote for ANY one of them in order to keep Obama out of the White House for another four years; the country cannot afford it.

It’s not about $$. It’s about relevance. If she doesn’t get in, she loses relevance. She’s hanging on as long as she can. She’s just another lobbyist...a tea party lobbyist. As for Fox News, all they care to ask her is if/when she’s going to run. No one needs Sarah Palin telling them how to think, and she knows this. Right now she is hanging on to relevance through a tease that she’s going to run and shake things up in the race. When she doesn’t — and she won’t — she’s not important anymore.

Lol. Yeah. I just realized that. I guess I did join in 2008. My bad. Still, ridiculous accusation. Romney? Really?

Perry got badly dinged tonight. He was called out on the Gardasil debacle and you can bet commercials deriding this govt over-reach are being cut as we speak. He also looked weak on immigration and weak on foreign policy. Huntsman and Romney (and even Newt tonight) are dinging his job-creation armor.

The point I’m making is that there might indeed be a great strategy in play by Palin. I’m a big supporter, and I’d love for her to have already declared. But, I understand it’s a difficult decision and she does not owe me or anyone outside of her family any say in her decision making process.

But, stepping away, looking at what has happened while she has been “teasing” us supporters...Romney got bumped off by Perry...Bachmann (who was supposed to be the smart, literate Palin) has become essentially superfluous...the other candidates have gotten no traction... and, tonight, Perry’s warts began to become exposed on a national stage (and he’s not a great debater, BTW).

Meanwhile, Palin has essentially driven the narrative via tweets, well-thought out FB postings (covering a wide array of issues) and game-changing speeches like the one in Indianola (that even Newt heaped praise on tonight). The pieces (meaning, no really super strong, invincible candidates now, plus a likely campaign strategy focused around the crony capitalism theme) are falling into place for her. Whether she decides to pull the trigger, who knows? But, her position tonight in mid Sept 2012 is certainly stronger than it was at any time during this early campaign (she even came in 3rd in recent CNN poll). All of this, plus her overall notoriety, the other candidates would kill for and would have to spend untold millions to achieve. She hasn’t had to spend a dime. Finally, if you’ve studied her political career, running completely unconventional, kitchen table-type campaigns has been her hallmark. One should not be surprised if the leopard doesn’t change her spots this time around.

Is this Palin strategery??? Again, who knows??? But look who we’re all talking about and whom the other candidates are praising...

We need a fighter who is not afraid of the “fray,” who will get in the fight. Maybe Sarah is not that person.

LOL! You must not know much about her time in Alaska.

She hasn’t let you down, since she never promised to run for President, but many of us have come to the conclusion that she is not running for President in 2012.

If she jumps in at this late date, she would fall short.

The debate had a lot of strong candidates with good points to make. If you want a conservative governor, a Tea Party leading female, or an outsider ready to shake things up ... there’s a candidate in the race for you.

In terms of her running/not running for President, to be fair, she never promised anything.

As far as I know she is keeping her options open. That is an ok thing to do.

I think perhaps you are disappointed because you really EXPECTED her to do this and that, hoped for it, but to be fair to her I don’t think she promised anything.

People post on FR like they know what she’s going to do. But it’s pure opinion. It may be educated or intelligent opinion, but it’s still opinion. She doesn’t have to fulfill anyone else’s strongly held opinions.

If you read my posts on FR you will find I have never been a Palin booster, but I am not a detractor, either, and am just waiting to see if she wants it or not before I decide who to support. I am not convinced she wants it right now.

I think she is a great American and a tremendous asset to the conservative cause, no matter what she does.

I figured out today, what I believe is Palin’s strategy.

First recall - from the very day. THE DAY, she accepted McCain’s offer to be his running mate, Palin has been the most slimed, most mud-slung, most demonized, most put through the wringer politician since Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Newt was imho the first actual test case of Saul Alinsky’s tactics. Unfortunately the lesson the left took away from that, was it works. It in fact was also the lesson too many on our side internalized.

Sure, use it on the left - but not on each other.

What I (and most here, I would have to believe) have noticed is, the GOP primary went negative almost immediately. First the dumb dork Rollins who Bachmann hired, his first week on the job, set the foundation by going after Palin. Stoopid move on his part.

It could have stopped there. However let’s be honest, we’ve all seen how Mitt Romney’s people operate. The “concern” trolls. You think the fact Romney trolls all were the same, is a coincidence?? (not a chance).

So, Palin approaches the primary aware that Mitt will release his carefully coifed trolls against her.

Meanwhile Perry saddles up to the bar.

That could have changed the dynamic. Still might, but frankly there’s been a lot of similarity in tactics, between the Rick-rollers, and the Mitt trolls. Both feign concern, both case doubt. It’s not the vile ugliness of the left, doing the same thing - but it’s still negative campaigning.

Palin’s been there. She knows. I think what she recognized immediately was she would face TWO candidates, both of which would unleash an Alinsky-light barrage against her. She could see.

And, what she is doing, is brilliant.

She stepped back. The two armies were arrayed to attack. Primed and ready. With nobody to attack. At that moment, the two armies realized, each was the other’s biggest threat.

Now, they begin attacking each other.

Palin does not attack, when she criticizes it is very issue specific - such as on Greta’s show this evening, against Crony Capitalism - an issue which could win even the general election.

If Mitt and Perry want to go at each other, let ‘em box.

Palin doesn’t have to, and she just might be better at it, than either of those two.

She knows what she’s doing.

Don’t get discouraged.

Since then, Palin was written out of the news.

They wish they could write her out of the news, but she just keeps doing things her own way. That's why they were so agitated about her bus tour this summer.

No, they haven't ignored her; they can't help themselves

Sitting here watching the debate, I have to say these folks have skin in the game. She is on the sideline doing shallow things like tweeting. It doesn’t matter now if she decides to run or not. Yawn.

Say there, Matt, how's your friend pissant doing these days?

Her first book made it pretty clear she isn’t going to run.

That comment makes it seem like you picked up a copy of the lib desperation mock-up, Going Rouge: An American Nightmare, instead.

She told about her planned campaign and her style of governance if she *were* to take the White House.

Cheers!

She beat the media out and they're livid that she gave them the slip.
They just can't believe that she got away with that.
They can't believe she gave 'em the slip.
They can't believe that she would even try to give 'em the slip. - Rush.

“Palin already has the contract with Fox News and stands to make plenty of money even if she doesn’t run. “

So did Newt, and he gave it up to run for President, and has since shone in several debates as a very sharp cookie and someone who could easily lead this country.

He made his choice, his commitment and his decision. That’s what leaders do.

“why would she turn that easy money down ..”
If she is called to lead by running for President, turning the money isnt just the right choice, it would almost be easy. Country first, right?
