NEW YORK (AP) Northeastern states are facing a jack-o'-lantern shortage this Halloween after Hurricane Irene destroyed hundreds of pumpkin patches across the region, farmers say.
Wholesale prices have doubled in some places as farmers nurse their surviving pumpkin plants toward a late harvest. Some farmers are trying to buy pumpkins from other regions to cover orders.

The “pumpkin shortage” story is becoming a yearly thing. I begin to think this is nothing more than some boiler plate story newspapers print every year out of simple laziness. That, and there being no real news for them to unearth; I mean other than Fast and Furious, the Solyndra scandal, and other such topics that would involve actual work on the part of actual newspapermen. There being no newspapermen, but only publicists and propagandists for the current regime, this is the sort of story we get. Pumpkins.

Look in Nov. for Nestle[Libbys] to say they might run out of canned pumpkin pie. It appears to happen every year as of late.
