PORT ST. LUCIE— A 78-year-old man shot and killed his 21-year-old wife, then set their home on fire before turning a pistol on himself, according to Port St. Lucie police.

Police received two 911 calls shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday and went to the 1400 block of Southwest Kamchatka Avenue, said police spokesman Officer Tom Nichols. Officers arrived to find the front door ajar and, behind it, the dead man with burns on his body.

Officers found the woman dead in a back bedroom that had smoke damage from a fire set with gasoline, Nichols said.

My cowboy boots are about 21 years old. Been re-soled 4 times. But,,, they’re the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever shoved my feet into!

Somehow reminds me of the 85-year-old guy who decided that for this 85th birthday he wanted to have sex with a young woman. So he hires a 20-something year-old prostitute and takes her to a motel room. Excusing himself, he goes into the bathroom and shuts the door. Ten minutes later he pops out stark naked, wearing a condom, with cotton in his ears and cotton stuffed up his nostrils.

"Well," says the prostitute, "the condom maybe I can understand. But what's with the cotton in the ears and nose?"

"Listen, baby," says the old guy, "There's two things in this world I can't stand. One is the sound of a young woman, screaming her lungs out in ecstasy. The other is the smell of rubber burning."

Sympathy for the dead but at 78 he should have known better than to get married.

I have an old work shirt that I’ve had since 1969. I’ve saved it from the trash can several times over the years.

A 78-year old man married to a 21-year old woman, and it didn't work out very well.

Who could have seen that coming?

Was someone trying to throw it out or was it trying to commit suicide ? :)

Both. My wife keeps trying to toss it out, Salvation Army won't take it.

Reminds me of a "financial planning" blonde joke I received today.

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed to find a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Her natural beauty took his breath away.

"I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her, "but in just a few years my father will die and I will inherit $200 million".

Impressed, the woman asked for his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.

"A white male called 911 and said he had just killed his wife and was going to kill himself," Nichols said

Because the media always reveals the race of the subject in their stories./s

I noticed that as well. And when criminals are on the loose, we sometimes don’t get full descriptions when it serves a better purpose. Reminds me of Ad Council radio/TV spots.
