A Bonita man is accused of breaking into a home to do his laundry.

Robert James Luther III, 23, of the 25100 block of Carnoustie Court, was arrested Monday by Lee deputies at the Sheriff's Office, and is facing charges of burglary.

The owner of the Bonita Springs home says the property is vacant and ready to rent. He believes Luther may have been friends of the prior tenants. Luther did not, however, have permission to enter the home or use the laundry equipment, reports said.

According to the victim, he was sitting in his truck when he saw Luther pry open the laundry door and enter the laundry room.

Luther had a woman with him and he was washing his clothes, reports said.

The owner told deputies that Luther used his electric and approximately 30 gallons of water.

Deputies say that during the investigation it was found that Luther is possibly homeless and currently seeking employment.

Not going to defend his actions at all, but if someone were to break into one of my unoccupied rental properties and do laundry... I would consider myself a pretty lucky “victim” at that point.

I agree. His actions were wrong, but having clean laundry can be important!
