This is a pathology.
"Normal" people - within a behavioral spectrum, who in time obtain positions of leadership - will (and often should) seek the advice and counsel of others. The purpose is to validate the wisdom of one's decisions or actions. Obama needs such people to validate himself - and then presents himself to the public as a font of wisdom and knowledge, rarely if ever acknowledging the contributions of others. He does so, in my opinion, because he fears he will be unmasked as what he secretly knows himself to be: dependent, less than competent, uncertain, and afraid.
The adulation he commonly seeks (and to his detriment, has often received uncritically) is a cloak for his self-doubt; and whereas most emotionally healthy people can live and make decisions with such uncertainties because they have a "center" - an internal support system - I judge that Obama does not. He never really grew up. Perhaps that is the fault of his parents or the people who raised him. But right now - it is ours.
