Keep getting e-mail inquiries from friends about Medicare future cost.
The following comments about monthly deductions from Social Security payments for Medicare have been received by E-mail lately. Not able to find out if they are accurate from SSA, $120 or $247 are a big deal for Social Security only retirement. Would like to know the answer before Nov 2012. I thought AARP was watching out for us old folks.
Mail content:
$ 96.40 in 2011 rising to:
$104.20 in 2012 [$ 7.80 increase]; $120.20 in 2013 [$ 16.00 increase];
$247.00 in 2014 [$126.80 increase].
These are provisions incorporated in the Obamacare legislation, purposely delayed so as not to 'confuse' the 2012 re-election campaigns.
And there is discussion one the cost to the government on the ‘cost of living” rises

Go to Medicare.gov for starters.
Also, not everyone pays the same. Medicare is MEANS TESTED now, and if you make more you pay more.
Also, it depends on the DATE your Medicare Part B started.
