Pastors Preach Politics From Pulpit
Can you do that in America?
That's the question hundreds of Pastors will try and get to the bottom of this Sunday.
On Sunday - 400 pastors will use their pulpits to preach politics.
Part of the goal is to challenge the Internal Revenue Service's regulations that restrict religious leaders from endorsing candidates and discussing policies with their congregations.
"On Pulpit Freedom Day, registered pastors are encouraged to videotape themselves speaking to their congregations about the Scripture, politics and political candidates, and mail those videos to the IRS. "
"The Pastors are ready to defend their right to preach on those topics without the threat of the IRS taking away their 501(c)(3) nontaxable status has been threatened in court."
"Our goal has always been ... to have the Johnson amendment declared unconstitutional.."

Yes. It is called free speech. A good idea is to not register your church with the IRS at all.

I agree. I asked my pastor every week to leave out the politics and just preach on the gospel, it took a whole year but it has been months since he’s brought up politics.
The only two things really worth talking about are religion and politics, and at some point they are intertwined; although I would not conflate the Flag with the Cross.

If the politics mentioned refer to sin and salvation, good for them...if just politics not really relevant...just my opinion...that covers a lot of territory...

No, I’m saying you preach the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Or in other words you preach about the permanent and not worry so much about the temporary.
It is Written that Christ's tongue is a two edged sword, it cuts both sides, left and right. The preacher/priest class have become so 'politically correct' few ever get around to teaching what is temporary and what is required to enter the permanent.
This country would be better off if they taught Christ RISEN.
Sadly, there are few Pastors like Dietrich Bonhoeffer left today who understand that evil must be confronted by being spoken out against.
Churches need to do far more than just preaching the basic “feel good” facts of the gospel. They need to teach people how to apply the Word of God to every aspect of their lives.
That means taking the Holy Spirit with you when you go out, when you go in your bedroom, AND when you go into the voting booth.

While I don’t disagree with the premise, politics transcends just “who you vote for”.
We would not be the United States of America without the work of the Black Regiment. Look it up.
Biblical morality and spiritual regeneration convert our whole lives. The left has been using the argument that being a Christian should not affect our voting.
The American people have been brainwashed by the left for the last 70 years to the point that we have elected Obama. We have been taught to not discriminate in ANY circumstance so now the American people can not discern between good and evil.

We avoid churches with ministers who don’t discuss politics, at least occasionally. Morals, Christianity, politics, etc., are all woven together in a person’s mindset and character. A minister can’t NOT preach politics and be effective in this day and age.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution recognizes both freedom of speech and freedom of religion (including freedom FROM a state-sponsored church). So let the preacher preach politics; if you disagree with him, show your disapproval by (a) withholding your contribution, or (b) finding another church.
As to the increasing interference by the I.R. S., the answer is simple. Repeal the 16th Amendment.
