To judge by the official logo of the Chinese National Space Administration, someone over there has been watching an awful lot of Star Trek.

America’s financial collapse has everything to do with “free trade”, just as China’s rise also.

America is committing national suicide, at the prodding of a small selfish group of a-national traitors, seeking only their own profit.

Our so-called leaders are running America into the ground.

Establishment Republicans included.

NASA’s funding problem is NOT related to America’s financial issues. NASA has had funding issues since Nixon “approved” the plans for the shuttle (NASA’s cheapest option they put before him, which he approved at a smaller budget than presented). It continued through Reagan who was supposed to approve the replacement to the shuttle (NASA’s plan was to star working on the replacement as soon as the shuttle went into service), and on through Obama who’s made their mission Muslim outreach. Through good times and bad for the last 40 years NASA has lacked funds and mission.

“NASA’s funding issues have nothing to do with free trade, they all stem from the fact that Kennedy was the last president with any real vision for space.”

I don’t know about that. I seem to remember W giving a pretty rousing, and inspiring speech (I can’t remember exactly when, maybe during one of his SOTU speeches), about continuing our exploration into space. He specifically mentioned going back to the moon, setting up a permanent settlement there to use as the launching base for a mission to Mars.
I also remember a bunch of leftist media boobs all yucking it up, or sniggering under their breaths, and doing endless stories about what an idiot he was, he was a TX hayseed because he didn’t present them with the CAD drawn plans, and itinerary for the projects.
If Obozo had given the same speech, they would have all dropped to the ground in orgasmic rapture that their satanic messiah was saving the universe now that he had “lowered the sea levels, and healed the planet”.
I really want to see self anointed little jackwagons like that destroyed as much as I want to see liberals defeated, and driven into the dust bin of history. But then I may be making a redundant statement.

I remember that speech, it was a great speech, would have been a better speech had their been any form of follow up. The only change in NASA funding was more cuts, NASA wasn’t pushed to put any steps towards those goals into their place. Most of the media coverage I remember from that speech was quite positive, of course I’m more tied to the nerd section of the world, even the people that didn’t like Bush were happy to have some one with a vision for space. Then nothing happened. So much for the vision.

I think the reason nothing happened was it was one of the latter SOTUs and I beleive Dems had control of both houses, and the writing was on the wall for the collapse of the economy, and it got pushed to the back of the priority list.
Also, one of W’s biggest problems, is he never learned to defend himself. Most of the ludicrous accusations hurled at him by the leftist press could have been stopped dead in their tracks had he learned to fight them the way Reagan did, and the way Palin does. President Bush is a classy guy, and he assumed, wrongly, that the American people would see through the lies that were told about him. Granted he wasn’t the greatest president in history, but he was an honorable, and honest man, and doesn’t deserve the vitriol, and lies that have been hung around his neck, even by some here on FR. (Not speaking of you in relation to the discussion we’re having.)
An example? How many times did President Bush ask congress to get control of Freddie Mac, and Fannie May? But he is still being blamed for the economic woes of today in almost every poll.
President Bush gave a press conference before Katrina hit telling the people of NO to get out, because their Governor, and Mayor weren’t warning them, and the residents weren’t paying attention to the Federal governments warnings. This was a full 5 days before the storm hit, but because of the lies told about him by the dem machine, and press, polls still show most people blame him for the mess down there. We know better.
I think if Bush would have had a Republican congress those last 2 years, his plans may have gained some traction. We’ll never know. I do know I remember all the jokes by the so called pundits in the mainstream media about him being some “hick” “cowboy”, and giving plans to NASA. The same old crap we hear about every Conservative, when in reality it’s the libs like Obozo who speak Austrian, and have been to 57 states, who can’t scratch their a$$ without illustrated instructions.

The reason nothing happened is that Bush had no follow through. His entire presidency was one of shrugged shoulders. He accepted early that the press didn’t like him and really never tried to do much. Now maybe he was right, maybe the deck was stacked too far against him and success was impossible, but the sad truth is the guy never tried. He never even attempted to do anything that would have made a mark in history. He had big talk early but did nothing with it, and then the big talk went away. If it wasn’t for the big events that happened on his watch he’d go down as one of the most forgettable presidents in history. Basically he’s the guy that was in office for 9-11 and Katrina.
