I’ll take your word for it on the DOJ stats - don’t know how to look them up.
However, I seem to read articles, sadly routinely, about infants being shaken to death by angry dads/boyfriends because the babies won’t stop crying.

When I was in about Jr. High there was a case of it. A four year old was murdered and police could never determine if the mother or “mommy’s boyfriend” did it. This was in the 80’s so this was shocking. No one would believe this “mother” would just let him hurt her baby! In fact it came out in trial that he was beating not only the four year old but her two year old son and her as well. She got up once with the two year old to stop him from beating the four year old and he yelled at her to “sit down” and she did! The girls body was thrown in the Kanawha river and never found. She got the worst of it in the trial when in fact after all I know after reading about “mommy new boyfriend” on Free Republic I truly believe he did it! She was just a retard.
I was wondering if they have checked the river. Where did you get the information that the mothers scent was leading up to it?
I’m gonna have to agree with you on your opinion. Also a police officer said she had made a phone call in a strange area at 12:30 am. Also from an officer claimed that she said the grandparents were trying to get custody because of abuse in the home. This next bit of info came from a friend not sure where she heard it so may not be true, but the mother received a text from her bother saying “I am ready when you” are at 2 am.
One of the detectives who appears on Fox said that that is what he was told.
