Newt Gingrich is asked about the Occupy Wall Street movement at the Bloomberg debate in New Hampshire:
New Gingrich: "If they want to change things, the first thing to do is fire Bernanke, who is a disaster as chairman of the Federal Reserve. The second person to fire is Geithner. The fact is, in both the Bush and the Obama administrations the fix has been in. And I think it's perfectly reasonable to be angry. But let's be clear about who put the fix in. The fix was put in by the federal government. If you want to put people in jail, I want to second what Michele said, you ought to start with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. And let's look at the politicians who created the environment, the politicians who profited from the environment and the politicians who put this country in trouble."
Charlie Rose, moderator: "Clearly, you're not saying they should go to jail?"
Gingrich: "Well, in Chris Dodd's case, go back to look at the Countryside deals. In Barney Frank's case, go back and look at the lobbyist who was close to Freddie Mac. All I'm saying is, everybody in the media who wants to go after the business community ought to start by going after the politicians who were at the heart of the sickness which is weakening this country and ought to start with Bernanke, who still has not been exposed for the hundreds of billions of dollars."

Newt is WAY too hit or miss for me, but when he does hit, he knocks it out of the park.
Yeah, he may very well be the one I support after Palin. I just don’t know at this point in time.
How many votes did the Federal Reserve Act get in The Senate?
Newt is simply the best qualified to be President and actually RUN this country, but Mitt has the best hair.
Welcome to the club Newt. You should have taken on the Fed when you actually had clout.

I have always liked Newt and was always trying to cut him slack while a lot here went postal on him. He is almost always the smartest man in the room. But he has mass baggage. I am wondering if he is angling for some other position with his repeated attacks on the media. I don’t know what cabinet position that would be, but he would certainly be an awesome cabinet member. Maybe he is going for VP attack dog slot. Not sure. I still like Newt, I just think his chances of becoming President are very slim.
I too would consider Newt since Sarah Palin decided to NOT run. We have to see how the next few months go, and learn if I’m wrong about Romney having bought and paid for the nomination with his RINO friends in leadership of the GOP.
I believe Newt is just a bit of a fair weather fan. Kinda goes where the wind blows. Now that it is open season on government, he attacks the same people he went along with. He could be another shill, a dummy front for the status quo since he is very malleable.
It is one thing to sit down and talk with reason, be civil, logical, rational along with having good judgement. It is another thing to be a pawn.
Although a great speaker and history buff, he is.
He’s the professor. Finally, someone told the truth...just about.
They need to look at the root of the problem. That is when Clinton and Rubin who put the fix in on the real estate market by demanding banks give loans to poor people and ignore the “racist” loan qualification standards. The banksters got deregulation in exchange for crashing the real estate market.
But Newt is very good and swinging facts together. Except when it comes to algore’s nonsense and globalism’s “third way.”
I have no idea how he would be in defense.

You are wise not to know yet. The vetting is not complete.
When you know as much as you can know about all the meatheads, you will weigh the pros and cons and decide on the best one we can get.
The Algore/UN global warming science nonsense he sucked up was pretty empty headed. When he’s on, he’s on. When he’s not, he’s not.
I think he came to an epiphany during his time away from office and his study into the history of government in this country.
As a result, he has a historian’s insight (an unclouded, liberal-free version of history) as to how much danger this country is in.
He has no reason to run: His ego was served by his run on Fox, he isn’t hurting for cash and he sees what a disaster the current administration has caused.
But, I think he more than any other candidate, realizes that this country is on the brink. He sees the things that historically made this country strong are being driven out of the national conscience and he sees the inherent dangers of over reliance on a socialist federal scheme.
This puts him squarely in the crusader role in the debates. He talks with the absolute certainty of a man with nothing to prove and nothing to lose.
I regret his personal decisions - although I don’t fault him for the couch debacle: Everyone has a moment of lucidity in their lives.
But, I would trust the future of the Republic in his care. I don’t know that I would do that with some of the others on that stage...
