Obama tried to apologize to Japan over WW2

...and the JAPANESE told him it was NOT a good idea!

Leaked cables show Japan nixed a presidential apology to Hiroshima and Nagasaki for using nukes to end the overseas contingency operation known as World War II.

Actually, there is a lot of historical documentation to explain why Japan nixed the idea. While the Japanese aren't thrilled to have been the only nation ever attacked with atomic weapons during a war, the end result of that attack provided them with things they never dreamed of before - things like freedom, prosperity and democracy.

But, the backstory gets even better. Truman took the step of ending the War in Japan by dropping the atomic bombs for one reason and one reason only - he didn't want to tangle with Russia over dividing the spoils of Japan. At the time that we dropped those bombs, Russia (aka the USSR) was still shifting operations to their coast in preparation for the invasion of Japan. Truman pre-empted their invasion and, as a result, the US owned Japan, much to the relief of the Japanese!

So, by being as ignorant as he is, zero nearly made one of his biggest blunders before an international audience. By its refusal to accept the apology, Japan graciously kept more egg off zero's face and more embarrassment away from America for the moron currently occupying the WH!!
