Every five dollar bill should have a little speech bubble coming from Lincoln's mouth proclaiming, "I was a Republican!"
The law states that money cannot be altered in such a way that it becomes "unfit to be reissued." Inking 4 words of truth would hardly constitute that!
Its amazing how many college grads will tell you that he was a democrat and then call you a liar if you correct them.
What’s your point?
It's also amazing how many college grads will tell you that George Wallace was a Republican. Or that the Dred Scot decision was handed down by a Republican Supreme Court.
MLK too!
A history on the Democrats you wont finds in school textbooks today.

The Democrats also didn’t elect their first Black female member to the Senate until 1992 and first Black male until 2004... and that was you-know-who.
Booker T. Washington (R)
Jackie Robinson (R)
Susan B. Anthony (R)
You also never hear:
Algore Sr., Robert Byrd, William Fullbright (Bill Clinton buddy) voted against civil rights legislation in 1964. Higher percentage of Republicans voted for Civil Rights legislation than dems.
Excellent point!
You're correct. Years ago, I received a dollar bill in change that had a word ballon with Washington stating, "I grew hemp."
Now my head is just cluttered with more useless information that does absolutely nothing to change or improve my life.
Wonder if he is Herman's ancestor.
My point is that it would be great to see every five dollar bill with those words on it. Maybe some of the 92+% black democratic voting block might see it.
Would be interesting if true.
