A school band teacher has been jailed for statutory rape after admitting having sex with a 16-year-old student.
Devri Ann DePriest was recorded on tape confessing to the underage sex and sleeping with the High School student at least 20 times over a two month period.
Police in Gallatin, Tennessee, secretly recorded the 25-year-old talking with her former lover after they launched an investigation into their relationship.
The relationship with the boy, who went to the town's High School, came to light after he told his parents.
DePriest has previously worked as a student teacher at both McGavock High School in Nashville and DuPont Tyler Middle School in Hermitage. On her Twitter page she writes of herself 'i'm awesome. i love the french horn. i teach lil kiddos to play instruments.'

Am I the only one who thinks these cases hurt the cause? What I mean is, I think a person (generally a man) who rapes a young child, should be hung til dead. I don’t think this woman committed that level of crime. I would expect her to get fired, because it is inappropriate, but I honestly can’t see her spending years in jail.

As Perdogg has said, she’s not a pedophile. In order to be considered a pedophile the child must be <=13 y.o.. Otherwise they are a hebephile (13 - 15) or ephebophile (15-19). She is the latter.
I was talking with a friend about the local high school. He said there was no respect for authority and the kids treated the teachers and administration as peers. I then added and the adults treat the kids as equals. He agreed. Can’t work can it!
