Then Why does Lockhart ISD ban them from all school lunchrooms? Lockhart Texas....
I do love me a PB&J. With a cold glass of milk.
But the peanut butter must be crunchy. And the jelly is grape. Otherwise = FAIL.
The chips are NOT on the side because that would just taste icky, LOL!
Cheese Steak Hoagie
Baloney!
At home my favorites are: cucumber & lettuce with mayo and soft white bread; bacon & lettuce with mayo on white toast; greasy pastrami steamed with poppyseed bulkie rolls with mustard.
“Then why does Lockhart ISD ban the from all school lunchrooms”.
There are a lot of peanut allergies now with kids. I was a room mom to one of these boys who would go into shock breathing the aroma of peanut butter. The nurse had his epi-pen and the whole routine if he stopped breathing. Very frightening stuff.. but it got me to wonder.. why so many peanut allergies today vs when I was a kid? I tried to read up on it and there are some theories that since peanuts have been manipulated genetically, their composition has changed and that has caused more allergies. I don’t have any idea if this is true or not... it is simply a theory; however, there is an increase in this particular allergy.
you forgot the kraft american cheeze slice
yeah I know all about the allergies but still...
my kids love pbnj
Our school uses some common sense. They have a lunch table where the peanut allergy kids sit. It isn’t seen as a “punishment” or anything.. in fact, the other kids think it is pretty cool and “distinctive”. This way, the school doesn’t have to worry about even a smudge of peanut butter transferring from the table to the fingertip of a child. It is a win win situation. The non-allergy kids enjoy PB and J.. and the ones who are allergic, get a “special table”.
The price of peanut butter is going to jump around 40% in the next couple of weeks.
Lockhart ISD isn’t the only one. I remember reading about another central Texas ISD that banned the PB&J sandwiches. Our daughter loved them when she was a kid and I think she still takes them to work at times.
If you listen to Rush, he mentioned that peanut butter was going up 40%. The drought really hit the peanut farmers hard as well as cotton farmers. Expect anything made from cotton to almost double by Christmas.
Some of you must remember. There was an episode of My Three Sons in which the family traveled to Hong Kong or some such. The hosts kept serving PBJ sandwiches to the boys.
Your sandwich is one of my favorites. My kids thought I was crazy when I complained that we only had Best Foods mayonnaise and I had to use that instead of Miracle Whip.
Kill the mayo. Fry the bologna.
