College basketball season tips off Monday night when St. John's hosts William & Mary in the opening game of the 2011 2K Sports Classic. To celebrate the end of the offseason, here are 64 65 ... wait ... 68 fearless predictions for the new season.
1. Expect plenty of chatter about a potential undefeated season for North Carolina if the Tar Heels emerge from their Dec. 3 game at Kentucky undefeated.
2. Ignore it. As good as the Tar Heels are and as mediocre as the middle of the ACC is, North Carolina will lose at least two regular-season games.
3. The highly touted 2012 recruiting class Tom Crean has landed will keep him employed at least one more year whether Indiana makes the NCAA tournament or not.
4. A coach who won't make it? TCU's Jim Christian. The Horned Frogs will opt for a fresh start entering their first season in the Big 12 in 2012.
5. Two guys who will make Wooden Award voters look foolish for omitting them from the 50-man watch list: Washington's Terrence Ross and Cincinnati's Yancy Gates.

I predict the predictor will not have a date all season.
Go Cowboy’s!!!
No cowboy's going to get offended...and sue me?????
And here...I am part Indian. LOL!!!!
Thanks for the ping! I agree with his top two points. There is too much parity in College Basketball to see an undefeated team, and I think rosters are more talented than usual due to the NBA lockout. Yes, I know it technically didn’t start until the summer, but you can’t tell me NBA labor uncertainty didn’t keep some underclassmen in school.
I’ll add two predictions:
69. Most of the seniors will continue to “graduate” (or leave college) as functional illiterates.
70. Most of the seniors will be unemployable in the public sector next year include in the NBA.
You dismiss/ignore Syracuse at your peril. While pre-season polls are notoriously feeble, SU fields (huge) 4 starters from last year. This will be a thunderous year for the Orange. Take it to the bank. The jury is still out on the bail out to the ACC. I’ve been in it since the inception of the Big East and I have an ethical question about the abandonment. Legal? Yes. Ethical? Ehh. Maybe, not so much. ACC academically is a good fit. Overall, I thing the BE pinned the ears of the ACC backetballwise. I think. sd
Final Four MVP = Jeremy Lamb
UConn and Syracuse will meet in the BigEast final, and three weeks later.., in the championship game..
Go UConn men!
Hopefully the basketball team will make me forget the awful football season the Gators have had.
