why end the season in Homestead/Miami?

Weather, especially temperature, for a race so late in the season, then East Coast vs West Coast for prime time coverage ... just a guess

I was for Carl, and the man has shown pure class, but have to admit the #14 team made an astonishing Chase run.

Agreed. Carl has always been admirable and a true sportsman in every sense of the word.

Back to your point about the number of people in the stands. How many stayed away as a protest to NASCAR for bringing in Moochelle and BiteMe’s wife as Grand Marshals? I wonder if Brian and Lisa may be reconsidering the wisdom of that move.

I don’t think under federal law a cigarette company can sponsor sporting events like that, which is unfortunate - having a guy named Smoke win the Winston Cup would be awesome. Anyway, good for my fellow Hoosier, the “Rushville Rocket”!

The answer is simple: weather. By this time of the year at late fall, there is a risk for the racetracks in the Carolinas to Virginia to be subject to bad weather.

It would be nice to end the season at Daytona, but usually at this time of the year Daytona has some construction activity going on, which may preclude the use of that track.

He did...in 2002.....and in 2005 he won the Nextel Cup...and now he has a Sprint Cup....the ONLY driver to win all three!!

now- that’s an interesting point and even more interesting if there is validity to it....not saying there isn’t- just don’t know...

Smoke has been my guy for years. Through thick and thin. Maybe the most competitive championship of all time.

Carl, you will be NASCAR Champion. Probably multiple times. Just not this time. Great fight man.
