Being a member of the 2011 Rolex GT Champions who had to come from the back to win it:
CONGRATS!
I’ve gotta give Smoke credit. He was waaaay back a few races ago, but fought back like you have to in order to be a champion.
That said, I like the pro-business embrace of All-American capitalism exemplified by the advertising on the cars. And the prayer before the races is another real plus in my book for NASCAR, a great sport with a thrilling finish this year.
And Michelle Obama was booed.
Awesome.
question for NASCAR fans from an open wheel fan- why end the season in Homestead/Miami??? Miami is the second worst sports city in the country- i’m watching the end of the race and the stands are half full- they are presenting the trophy and it looks like a dozen people stuck around...with some many southern tracks with rich tradition, why Homestead?
btw- the Lewis Hamilton/Tony Stewart Mobile 1 commercials are terrific...
Meh.
SMOKE RULES !!!!!
There were two rain delays that most likely chased away some of them and it is raining in victory lane right now. Plus it is a Sunday night so I would guess that many are doing lots of all nighters to get back to work tomorrow.
I was at Watkins Glen when they brought in the F1 and Cup cars for them to do the switch thing on track. Very impressive array of equipment they brought in for the F1 car.
DAMN,JUST DAMN.The difference being one race win and tied in points.Congrats to smake.
I watched the tail end of the race. If you don’t think the yellow flags were rigged for the 50 lap showdown, I’ve got a bridge I can sell you.
Smoke
Carl Edwards comments at the end should be shown again and again. "We did our best. I did my best. But, this was Tony's day and he earned every bit of. He's our champion."
Carl Edwards is a pro and a sportsman.
eh- with everything on the line tough to claim rain chased people away....
I read the article about the Watkins Glenn event in F1 Racing, a publication from England i subscribe to- they had nothing but great things to say about the event and Watkins Glenn...
Keep your bridge, all 43 cars had to deal with the yellows and with 40 laps to go NASCAR let them go all the way.
I am a casual NASCAR fan. I compare it to pro wrestling . ducking....
Yep, it was riggged alright, but NASCAR had nothing to do with it. Like Tony said in the Winner's Circle, the man upstairs was looking out for him.
BTW - the last caution was due to rain.
Glen.
Or have you forgotten the history of F1 at The Glen? I love all sorts of racing but being fortunate to be a part of the Rolex Series, you have to know that I gravitate more to Road Racing. Give NASCAR its due for what it is.
