When last we met Oskar, he was embroiled in an epic battle with a hair dryer. Oskars hoomins recently uploaded this video of Oskar, shot only a day after adopting him, playing with toys for the first time. From Oskars hoomins:
Since he is completely blind (born without formed eyeballs) we gave him some balls with bells inside. As you can tell, he can see them by using his ears! He is such a happy and inspiring cat we are blessed to have him with us.
Oskar is a blessing, indeed!

A lot of years ago, I bought a mixed breed puppy only to discover he was totally blind - no reaction to light or any movement in front of him at all.
He lived for about 12 years and eventually died from natural causes.
I think he was as happy as any other dog once he got used to his environment. As a pup, he was quite playful - would nip and then run away, confident he would not bump into anything because he could remember where everything was, including walls and doors, and if he did, took it in stride.
Later, he do the typical dog thing of sitting outside, paying attention to whatever was going on. In his case by listening and sniffing.

Nom? Did you mean “ka-nom”, as in dog treat?
To: Slings and Arrows
thanks for the ping - and for posting that, I had a trying day and after watching that dear little blind kitten playing - all’s well with the world again.

Ah, OK.
It confused me because in Thai, “nom” is short for ka-nom, which translates as a sweet, or cookie, or dessert. Or in the case of animals, treats like milk bones and such. I thought you might have known I live in Thailand and thus were using that colloquialism.
To: Slings and Arrows
Ok. I’d like to get on this ping list. And our cat also thinks it’s the right thing to do.

Bless Oskar and his hoomins! Delightful! I think animals, and cats especially, can teach us what it means to live in the *Now.* ;)

He’s a little trooper. Thanks for the great video. I’m amazed that he’s only 8 weeks old! He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.

The more chaos and even violence happens, the happier the Obama/Demonrat/Communists get.
They can’t wait to clamp down Martial Order on all of us.
