From a technical perspective, none of those three are even near the top. Page himself admitted that he was a somewhat sloppy guitarist. They are all great musicians, and I would put all three near the top for the roads they blazed and the music they wrote, but I do not think of any of them as great guitarists.

I would agree.

I go with Al Dimeola, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Leo Kottke, not necessarily in that order...

Clapton himself rates his talents far below B.B. King, Muddy and Chuck Berry and he claims he isn't even in the same league as the Unequaled Robert Johnson.
