Nope. Actually, I’d kill for some Velveeta. I think I saw it once years ago at an international supermarket across town, but at a ridiculous price.

Sometimes you can find those small boxed mixes like “Golden Grain” and those are OK, but it’s not the same as a big casserole dish hot out of the oven.

And if there’s ham chunks? Ah... memories!

At our company covered dish Thanksgiving dinner yesterday two employees (both white) brought mac and cheese. I don’t think mac and cheese is a “black thing” any more than any other food at the dinner.

"Is that a black thing?"

No, not really. Unless that's ALL you have along with a cold 40 oz. malt liquor. And even then it's really hard to say.

In the matter of Mac n Cheese, someone had the brainstorm to open a restaurant in NYC that serves ONLY mac n cheese in various and sundry permutations. They had a line going down the block on opening day. Probably filthy rich even as we speak...oh...wait....NYC, probably lower middle class even as we speak! At any rate, the stuff appears to have many aficionados.

Kind of sad when a white guy could ask that and instead of a black person proudly answering ‘yes’, we’re supposed to be offended.

When my sons and her other grandchildren were little, my mother always made macaroni and cheese on Thanksgiving and Christmas both.

When we moved out of state and started having holiday meals on our own, that was one thing they insisted I include in the meal. Still do.

No, it’s a government food aid thing.

“... why mac and cheese on Thanksgiving.. why not?”

Actually, I always make macaroni and cheese on Thanksgiving. Everyone loves it and as a leftover.... it is really good. Of course, there will also be the more traditional fare like turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy etc... A buddy FReeper of mine said she thought it was a “southern thing”. Eat what you like! (by the way, we are white)

Macaroni and Cheese is a Great Depression thing. Blame FDR for the end of Norman Rockwell -like family meal time.

Though the history of Mac and Cheese type recipes go back far earlier, it was the rationing period of the Great Depression and WWII that had the most effect of Mac & Cheese popularity. Meat and other food products were rationed, so family meals had to be planned by what was on hand. And millions of women were now serving in the workforce with little time to be in the kitchen, and they needed something ready to prepare. KRAFT Macaroni and Cheese Dinner was introduced in 1937 with the advertising slogan of “Make a meal for 4 in 9 minutes.”

Can’t make this stuff up...

Read this thread a little while ago. Went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. As soon as I walked in the door, a black lady says “where da macaroni at?” I busted out laughing. Laughed the whole time in the store. Am still laughing. And, yes, that’s really the way she said it.

the first American prez to call for a Pali state living in peace and security alongside Israel.

Interesting. He probably got caught up in the secular because he's a Christian and would know there is no peace until Jesus returns.

Right. Those here during the trib will know when the trib will be up. Which is good for them to know when those horrible days will be over - well, the ones who managed to survive it.

“...begs the question...” does not mean what you think it means.

The only reason it is newsworthy is because it was a conservative white man inquiring and that makes it un-PC.

Probably true, but his son needs to seriously talk to him and tell the guy it's time to retire. He is seriously damaging the brand and I know the son wants to take over. He might not have anything to take over if Pat keeps saying really stupid things. I am not of his religion but I know a lot of people who USED to follow him and even donate a buck or two but lately I think many have reconsidered their support for him and really who could blame them.
