Evangelist Pat Robertson: Is Mac'N Cheese a BLACK Thing?
Yahoo News ^ | 5 hrs ago

Posted on 11/23/2011 10:42:44 PM PST by Just4Him

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson has been set straight on Thanksgiving comfort food.

"The 700 Club" founder showed a clip of Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday. Robertson's host, Kristi Watts, asked what dish the former secretary of state had to have on Thanksgiving. Rice replied macaroni and cheese.

Watts reacted enthusiastically, adding "Sister, that is my dish..."

Appearing perplexed, Robertson asked Watts, who is black, of the women's shared enthusiasm for mac 'n' cheese, "Is that a black thing?"

Macaroni & cheese is as American as apple pie, the color of the person eating it has nothing to do with anything.

Can we check the record to see if Ed Asner or any other old leftist has said anything stupid? Will it be given the same media attention?

Why would we do that. Good Ol' Pat is a Leftist. He is 100% behind Mittens and dislikes Conservatives. Didn't you hear?

Okay,

Pat has a gift for putting his foot in his mouth. The context, however, was what was being eaten on Thanksgiving Day. I would be expecting to hear turkey or perhaps ham, dressing, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce . . . But not macaroni and cheese.

So, it begs the question, why mac and cheese on Thanksgiving. Why not, I know. But maybe it is cultural.

I don’t care one way or another, but I think I understand the reason for the question. Flame on,

I don’t know where you celebrate Thanksgiving, but in the South we have a bunch of sides along with the turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce. Mashed potatoes, greens, yams, creamed corn, butter beans and field peas, and yes, mac&cheese.

Now how can I flame anybody who recognizes the fact that their pets own them? Homemade mac and cheese would be a great side dish to any holiday meal and, with some ribbon cane syrup and ham bits, it would be a perfect main course.

Mac and cheese is also a staple of ‘soul food’, or traditional black ethnic cuisine. Serving it at family holidays might be proudly claimed a ‘black thing’ the way serving lasagna as a dish at Thanksgiving might be considered an ‘Italian thing’. The only reason it is newsworthy is because it was a conservative white man inquiring and that makes it un-PC.

Yep, and when blacks moved north in large numbers decades ago they took the tradition with them, which now also makes it part of their “ethnic” holiday tradition.

Everybody loves mac and cheese. What I can’t figure out is why they suck up to Condi. She pushed along with W and now Bammy and Hillary for dividing Israel. A disaster which cannot be measured. Same with Susan Rice, Tony Blair, S. Power, the UN, Russia. You can bet it is going to happen.

If they said macaroni and cheese - he wouldn’t have asked that question. The first time my son said it - I asked what is that? I assumed it was short for a Big Mac w/cheese but wanted to be sure. Didn’t think of macaroni and cheese which I’ve made for them many times.

Pat is mostly an establishment GOP from what I can tell. Since he’s a post-tribber, he’s more concerned with whether you (and your pet) are too fat. Every Wed is about being too fat. Mostly the earlier but they raised the fat pet thingy last week making me roll my eyes. He recognizes the Ezek 38 war but spends precious little time about what will happen dividing Israel. Like I say he is a post-tribber so no surprise there.

Pat is VERY interested in Israel and recognizes the importance but simply does not talk about how the world is deluded. I have watched a good portion of the news intros every week for a couple years and rarely heard anything other than he sees it correctly as weakening Israel. Very little about the false peace coming. Of course W, Powell and Rice all pushed to divide Israel just like the current dolts. Condi was nothing but a Saudi tool like Powell. But they keep praising Condi. In answer to your other question Pat stepped to a chalkboard and mapped a rough version of the Tribulation not two months ago maybe three. From his explanation and selection of Scripture, skipping others, it is clear he is premillennial and even belives the Tribulation may be at hand but is definitely post-trib regarding the harpazo event. This means you could count the days from the abomination that causes desolation and know the day, which would eliminate imminency. Now you can count the days from the abomination to the

The Second Coming which is 1260 to 1335 days after the abomination. If Pat was a full preterist or post-millennial or amillennial he would not expect a Second Coming. He is premillennial post_trib almost Dominion theory. Such a view does not allow for the snare and then delusion of the Antichrist with his false peace plan. He knows he is coming but does not clealry explain the precursors. FWIW W bragged he was the first American prez to call for a Pali state living in peace and security alongside Israel. Look up peace and security in the ESV at Biblegateway. FWIW

Nope. Actually, I’d kill for some Velveeta. I think I saw it once years ago at an international supermarket across town, but at a ridiculous price.

Sometimes you can find those small boxed mixes like “Golden Grain” and those are OK, but it’s not the same as a big casserole dish hot out of the oven.

And if there’s ham chunks? Ah... memories!

In the matter of Mac n Cheese, someone had the brainstorm to open a restaurant in NYC that serves ONLY mac n cheese in various and sundry permutations. They had a line going down the block on opening day. Probably filthy rich even as we speak...oh...wait....NYC, probably lower middle class even as we speak! At any rate, the stuff appears to have many aficionados.

When we moved out of state and started having holiday meals on our own, that was one thing they insisted I include in the meal. Still do.

Actually, I always make macaroni and cheese on Thanksgiving. Everyone loves it and as a leftover.... it is really good. Of course, there will also be the more traditional fare like turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy etc... A buddy FReeper of mine said she thought it was a “southern thing”. Eat what you like!
