Snag Your Own Holiday Crabs

I came here for Lindsay Lohan pictures.

Needless to say, I'm somewhat disappointed.

In the early ‘70’s I was out with my Uncle, Dad, and brothers on a boat in the salt water part of the Rappahanock river (Virginia) having a slow day fishing. We had set several crab pots on the way out. So we cut up some Spots and baited our lines with the pieces and dropped them over the side. All the way to the bottom and back off a half turn. You put your finger on the line and when you feel a little tug, you ease it up to the surface. When the crab got near the surface, it let go as if to said, “Oh s***!” My Uncle would net the crab and toss it in the boat. Dad picked the crab up with tongs and put it on the cooler. Great time.

My youngest brother was standing up on the bow looking around the wind screen. Just as my Uncle tossed a netted crab in the boat, I pinched him on the leg and he panicked and dove overboard. Boy was he mad when we pulled him back in.

We steamed close to 150 crabs that night, with plenty of beer to go around. Made and froze a lot of crabcakes. I really miss those days.

Same situation here on Bender Bay. Sport boats are doing great as long as the seas are clam enough to venture out. We had one of the super high tides here this morning...
