Syracuse University associate head basketball coach Bernie Fine was fired Sunday in the wake of an investigation of child molestation allegations against him.
In statement released Sunday night, Kevin Quinn, the school's senior vice president for public affairs, says Fine has been "terminated, effective immediately.
The move came at the direction of Chancellor Nancy Cantor.
The 65-year-old Fine was in his 36th season at his alma mater. He had the longest active streak of consecutive seasons at one school among assistant coaches in Division I.
Fine's firing comes in the wake of new revelations Sunday, including a third accuser.
Two former Syracuse ball boys were the first to accuse Fine, who has called the allegations "patently false."

Is this another Sandusky? Too early to tell. If so, how many years was he allowed to skate?
Liberals and homosexuals run sports today.
I was looking for the link, from were the Arkansas pigs were 14 up on LSU the other day, when I told them that LSU was just pulling a little pig tail and they would start frying bacon shortly. Boy did they ever fry the bacon.
I came to that conclusion years ago and people wonder why I would be perfectly happy if all sports went dark forever.
The country would be better without bread and circus.
I knew the second half was going to be a clinic, and it sure was. Bobby Petrino was a sore loser, IMHO.
The liberal, brain dead variety, yes. If we could eliminate reality TV, gossip TV, court TV shows and get sports back to the place they inhabited in the '60s and '70s it would be beneficial.
New York minors - 3 years from date of 18th birthday (excluding wrongful death cases) (All I could find on it).
I’ve read that some states have eliminated the statute of limitations for child molestation and others have greatly extended it.
There’s still one sport that’s sane as far as behavior of fans and players, in college, the minors and the Pros...hockey.
Pennsylvania is one, which is why Sandusky is thankfully going to prison.
Is this the new era of homosexual predators/paedophilia?
Cut out the 24/7 sports and beer and watch society unravel.
Also, ESPN has had at least three sex scandals that I know about, they're totally MSM mob journalism (Tebo hatred required), and ESPN’s Doug Gottlieb has had a long running, ugly feud with Jim Boeheim.
I'd advise caution before going Nancy Grace on this guy.
I agree.
It’s one thing to defend your friends. It’s another to attack an innocent.
“...his wife and this guy Davis are pretty messed up too.”
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I didn’t listen to the tape I just read the article.
It’s been well known for a long time that coaches have a lot of power with local governments and they use it to minimize or eliminate punishments to their players that get in trouble (felonies become misdemeanors, jail time becomes no-show community service, sexually assaulted girls get scholarships and new cars to shut up and go away, etc.).
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that the coaches also use money and power-relationships to grease the skids for their sleazy little hobbies, too.
Thank heavens!
I used to work in Public TV and spent a decade or so. There were the big sports guys who made the big weekend bucks and were and still probably very liberal. They of course, would only include their liberal friends and pet favorites. The rest of us who did actual work around there and tried to move up or get in anywhere else got nowhere.
The only sports the normal people got to experience was ETV Sports which involved certain good freelance buddies getting hired and the rest of us getting our little regular pay working weekends out of town. Never a compliment or even acknowlegement. It won’t bother me a bit to see Nikki close the doors on once an OK place to work.
I don’t know. The wife sounds like one hard character who wasn’t having any kind of sex with her husband. It was just a marriage of convenience at this point. She might have just agreed with this kid because she hated her husband so much. I mean, how could any real human being be so blasé about a child being abused.
