2011 was a great year for music, IMO. What have you purchased or listened to this year that you liked?
My list is mostly Americana-type music and were all released in 2011-- but feel free to add anything.
I haven't listened to a large volume of music, but these are the ones I keep coming back to. Some are obscure, some are well-known.
1. Tristen -- Charletons at the Garden Gate
2. Eilen Jewell -- Queen of the Minor Key
3. Zoe Muth & the Lost High Rollers -- Starlight Hotel
4. Ray Manzarek & Roy Rogers -- Translucent Blues
5. Buddy Miller -- Magnificent Silver Strings
6. Freddy and Francine -- Forest and the Sea
7. Kip Boardman -- The Long Weight
8. William Tyler -- Behold the Spirit
9. Mike Farris and the Cumberland Saints -- The Night the Cumberland Came Alive
10. Glen Campbell -- Ghose on the Canvas
You probably heard this one from a couple years ago?

Finally - a post not about immigration or adultery! My list is music that I believe has all been released in 2011. All selections are currently on my harddrive in flac format. In approximately alphabetical order:
Ben Harper - Give Till It’s Gone.
Drive-By Truckers - Ugly Buildings, Whores & Politicians.
Emmylou Harris - Hard Bargain.
Greg Allman - Low Country Blues.
Hank Williams III - Hillbilly Joker.
John Prine - The Singing Mailman Delivers.
Radiohead - The King of Limbs.
Tom Waits - Bad As Me
Warren Haynes - Man In Motion
I also listen to Widespread Panic every day - every single day. I’m just over 2,000 live sources of Panic shows. I have listened to damn near every known Widespread Panic show from the past 25 years.
I really liked ghost poet. Thanks, warsaw44!
Pat Metheny - What’s It All About
Cowboys are great...they do a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ that is pretty decent...
Its nice to see listen to the perspective from an older, thoughtful musician. I'm so glad you liked it!
FYI: This song has been picked by ARD (German TV channel) to be played as their winter sports theme.
I can't stop listening to Tristen.
