What Tim Tebow Can't Do
Wall Street Journal ^ | DECEMBER 1, 2011 | Jason Gay

Posted on 12/01/2011 1:24:45 PM PST by nickcarraway

He cannot fly. He cannot see through walls. He cannot talk to the animals, not even cats. He's never picked up an automobile and tossed it across the road. He's failed to publish poetry in Russian. He can't explain Ryan Reynolds.

These are just a few of the many things Tim Tebow can't do.

Every day we are reminded of more things Tim Tebow can't do. He cannot throw a proper pass. He cannot stand still in the pocket. He can't run a conventional offense. He runs, but he doesn't run gracefully. He runs upright and frantic. He runs like he's stealing a toaster from the mall.

He's a cavalcade of failures. Why the Denver Broncos give him a paycheck, nobody knows.

Because Tim Tebow never lets you relax. He never puts a football game away in the first quarter. He forces you to watch the whole thing, with commercials and no fast-forwards. It's never pretty.

He doesn't put up Tom Brady's numbers. He doesn't put up Tom Brokaw's numbers. He's not impressing Broncos legend John Elway. John Elway acts as if he'd let the Broncos bus abandon Tim Tebow at a rest stop.

"Oh, where's Tim?" John Elway would say forty miles down the road. "Hmmm, that's too bad."

You can see why Elway's unconvinced. Tim Tebow can't do it the normal way. Tim Tebow can't get through an interview without mentioning his faith. Or giving credit to his teammates. Tim Tebow never sounds full of Tim Tebow.

He doesn't even get mad when people say nasty things about him. When people say Tim Tebow needs to improve, Tim Tebow says he needs to improve. Who does that?

Nothing seems to rattle him. He smiles and doesn't sulk. When Tim Tebow is bummed, he doesn't pull down the blinds,

Tebow has exploded into a national sensation. As soon as I tell people I’m from Denver, they want to talk Tebow. “What do the locals think?”.

Yes, Tebow should thank his teamates, especially the defense. Bronco games are low scoring. Now Bronco games are more liekly to be on national TV :-)

They hate Tebow because he is happily Christian. That is the only reason. He could win a Superbowl and they will still hate him.

Ty Cobb is in the Hall of Fame because of what he did on the diamond. His personality and qualities as a man are often mentioned, but over looked at what he did.

Tim Tebow should get the same consideration. 5-1 record on his starts so far. That’s what he has done on the gridiron.

Tim Tebow never sounds full of Tim Tebow.

This is one of the primary reasons John Elway does not understand Tim Tebow.

Broncos are probably making a lot of money on Tebow. Concessions (Tim voodoo dolls and rosaries/crosses), tickets, TV revenue.....

Yet, they all still love to hate the guy who is out there WINNING GAMES

I heard yesterday a story when I was at Men’s Fraternity about that rookie on defense that has been playing great, I believe the same guy that tackled the running back for a loss in the last game that put the other team out of field goal range. This rookie said that Tim Tebow told the team “as iron sharpens iron, so one man shall sharpen anotherman” and that and other things resonated with him and inspired him to play harder.
They can say what they want, but the team is gelling together and the Denver Broncos are going to be a team to be reckoned with. I thank God for men like Tebow.

After 18 games, Tebow has a better passing record than Elway did after 18 games. Elway is a schmuck and always has been.

An LA Times reporter had a good description of the Tebow phenomenon. Can’t find it, but it went something like Tebow has “again dispelled any notion that some higher power doesn’t care about football”.

Exactly. If he weren't "happily Christian" he'd be a QB of note but wouldn't be as big a media sensation. They love to hate him because of his beliefs and it's getting a little old by now. And disgusting.

The rookie defenseman to whom you refer is Von Miller and he's not playing like any rookie, for sure. People around the league are hearing about this guy.

Several of the defense stalwarts have publicly supported Tebow, including Champ Bailey.

Didn’t a QB win a game with about 39 yeards worth of passing once for Chicago?

He can’t throw a damn. His passes make the ruptured ducks of Bill Kilmer and Joe Kapp look like they were thrown by Sonny Jurgensen. Now both the two Ks showed you can win without an arm.
