Santorum: I Can‘t See Why Trump ’Would Be Any Worse’ of a Moderator than the Mainstream Media
The Blaze ^ | 12-06-11 | Tiffany Gabbay

Speaking to radio host Steve Malzberg on Tuesday, Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum weighed in with his thoughts on Donald Trump serving as moderator of the Newsmax ION Television Presidential Debate in Iowa on December 27.

When asked how he felt about a Trump-hosted debate, Santorum explained that, given the recent string of left-leaning journalists who have served as moderators — some of which he has “not felt comfortable” with — Trump could not be any worse.

“Brian Williams, I wasn’t comfortable with,” started Santorum, adding, “and I had every right not to be, given the questions he asked.”

“You go down the list of all the people they’ve had, these reporters who have tried to make this debate about them and not about the candidates and what they believe in, and rearranging time to make sure the people that they wanted to have time, get time.”

“I can’t see, in some cases, where Donald Trump would be any worse than what we get from the mainstream media,”

Some of the reporters who drew scorn in the radio segment included Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer and Charlie Rose to name a few.

Santorum also blasted previous debates for asking for “silly 30-second answers on how to solve world peace.”

“They don’t really make any bones about hiding their opinion,” Santorum said in reference to the mainstream media. “It used to be that the media may have quietly kept their own counsel and tried to do a reasonably fair job of reporting the news. Now they’re very explicit about the positions they take and the criticisms they level against conservatives.”

“Huckabee’s forum was actually a very good example of how to do it. Conservative questioners. Conservative moderator. (eh, more or less. It was Huckabee.)”

I agree, Huckabee’s forum was surprisingly good considering who the host was.

I don’t like Trump and I don’t understand why anyone would.

Agree again!

But Huckabee is not Trump!... Trump, I am sorry, is a MIMBO! (male bimbo) a "media personality" that goes together with the Enquirer (I know, they get it right sometimes and they fulfill a purpose) but again, not the KIND of people/organizations we want them "handling" the affairs of the Republican Party.

I love Santorum (not getting any points with me in Trump but I can understand he might be a little desperate to brake through...) and even "like" Newt (with hesitations), and saw him with Gretta talking about the Trump fiasco (so far, for me)... and Newt's explanation was NOT brilliant... it was kind of stupid, trying to explain how something "serious" with a guy like Trump, using words like "Oh Donald is such a character!" or "he is exciting..." or BS like that... It reminded me of the criticisms about him... he is smart yes... but sometimes... he just does things that makes you wonder, etc. I just HOPE that the years that have gone by have matured him and made him wiser!... But his infidelities to his wives, still bother me... Because CHARACTER matters, as far as I am concern. Of course I am also aware that OHOMO has to go!... so I am very willing to "compromise" and would even vote for Newt if does not do something stupid, etc etc.

The candidates make their own choices. I would hope.

I agree. Trump couldn’t possibly be as bad a moderator as the ones the DNC media keep sending out.

I’ve said several times that it was high time for the candidates to organize their own debates, with their own moderator asking the questions they want to debate. The whole purpose of the debate is to let the candidates discuss the questions they consider important. It is not an opportunity for some DNC hack to make his bones trying to debate the candidates himself.

They are fools if the continue to let the DNC media manage their debates.

He’s absolutely right about that. The Candidates showing up at the debates emceed by the likes of Wolf Blitzed and Brian Williams but NOT showing up for a debate moderated by “the Donald” is ridiculous. And to top it off, if they publicly humiliate him by not showing up, he’s VERY liable to run as an independent, which will screw over the Republicans big time, as far as the White House goes.

GOP, DEMS and MEDIA have their trifecta and mean to protect it. All cooperate in choosing the winners and losers every election cycle... voters not really required. If the voters look a bit rebellious they just step up the slander machine and cheating.

I beginning to wonder which side these candidates are on! There’s no good reason to decline his offer..none at all. I heard Bachmanns excuse and she’s completly off my list now....and it was hard keeping her there with all the stupid things she’s saying and doing.

What part about Obama, Pelosi, and Reid did he not get just 1 year ago when Trump supported Harry Reid?

In the hopes someone puts the Reid support question to Trump and makes him answer for being politically bipolar?

The candidates are probably afraid of the questions.
Trump pulls no punches.

“How much worse could Trump be?”

I’d bet that the candidates who have declined a Trump moderated debate are more afraid of his not playing the game than than that they have suddenly developed some kind of high standard in politics.

“This is discrimination of the worse degree! All blondes, a dirty blonde, and 0 Brunettes? 0 Redheads?

It reminds me of Fox News ... I am not sure what they have against brunettes.
