The Osawatomie Speech: A Defining Moment In History
ZEROHEDGE ^ | December 9 2011 | Econophile

Posted on 12/09/2011 7:06:51 PM PST by GlockThe Vote

I am not a fan of Barack Obama, but I have not criticized him as harshly as many other writers do. I have a different view of him. I see him as a rather run of the mill Progressive/Liberal who firmly believes his ideology and acts somewhat consistently on those ideas. Rather than pillory him personally, my approach has been to criticize the philosophy of which he is a product. In my mind, it's all about ideas. I detest his ideas because I believe they are anti-intellectual and they don't work.

There are many like Mr. Obama out there. His admirers perceive themselves as being the "downtrodden", envious of the accomplishments and wealth of those whose abilities they cannot match. I get that: if you can't achieve it, take it from those who can. Even those limousine liberals who have wealth and accomplishment perceive themselves as either being guilty of their wealth or come from backgrounds where these ideas are passed along. Mr. Obama is no different than any other politician: he seeks power and admiration and the ability to impose his ideas on America.

We here at the Daily Capitalist try everyday to combat those ideas by demonstrating their lack of efficacy and by presenting analyses of events in a free market framework which analyses have actually been quite accurate in forecasting economic outcomes. We try to be the antidote to the Progressive juggernaut.

And then I heard President Obama's speech at Osawatomie, Kansas this week.

It perhaps wasn't surprising, but I was appalled. It was deceitful, inaccurate, revisionist, and demagogic.

I have spoken to a few people, and let me say, even some mild mannered people i know are really upset over this. I am a hard charging type, but even many mild types are getting moved to anger by thugbama.

If anyone this the speech was given to channel TR, they are totally misled.

Obama was in fact channeling the Maoist terrorist, Bill Ayers.

He's bright, articulate, and well educated.

Studying Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and Friedrich Engels without studying Adam Smith, Friedrich von Hayek, and Milton Friedman hardly qualifies one as "well educated."

Uh, do you think so?

This just in from Free Republic:

College mate says obastard is a marxist and always has been one.

I can honestly say I have never had any doubt this cretin is a communist, an imposter and an illegal candidate. Someday, if there is justice and if the United States is what it should be once again the truth will come out and there will be a day of reckoning. I hope I live to see it.

The main objective is getting obama and thugs out of the White House, never loose sight of that.

My choice for the Republican candidate is Perry.

Whoever is the Republican candidate, we must stand united to rid ourselves of those now in power.

"Now, just as there was in Teddy Roosevelt’s time, there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. “The market will take care of everything,” they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes — especially for the wealthy — our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.

Now, it’s a simple theory. And we have to admit, it’s one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government. That’s in America’s DNA. And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker. (Laughter.) But here’s the problem: It doesn’t work. It has never worked. (Applause.) It didn’t work when it was tried in the decade before the Great Depression. It’s not what led to the incredible postwar booms of the ‘50s and ‘60s. And it didn’t work when we tried it during the last decade. (Applause.) I mean, understand, it’s not as if we haven’t tried this theory."

Obama is a hell of a lot smarter then most conservatives give him credit for, myself included.

Only Gingrich can take on this argument and win.

There's not another GOP candidate in the race that can argue with this guy and win.

Sure, all of us kno0w Obama is a charlatan, liar, thief and communist.

But for that 15-20% that will decide this election, somebody standing up and saying their closer to God than the other guy will not win.

Was Obamas choice of Osawatomie for this speech meant to send a message? After all, it was the site of a battle between abolitionists and pro-slavery Missourians in what has been known as Bleeding Kansas. And, then there is this other association...

What is more, one of the commenters in the blog page has identified “why Osawatomie?” as a location? Yes, Teddy Roosevelte spoke there with his nationalist launch, but... eerily, “Osawatomie” was also the title of the Weather Underground’s newsletter/magazine— as in William Ayers.

This is not coincidence. And a great comment on this lie of a speech. Will someone remove this stone from our shoe?

I believer Zer0 along with most of those in his cabinet slept through their economics and history classes in the big ivy league schools. If they didn't skip half their classes, they sat in them stoned or suffering from hangovers. They got their great grades by paying for the term paper and cheat sheets for the tests. The only information they got about economics and history was from drug inspired discussions in between the talks about how our universe is just a molecule on the nose of an alien creature in another dimension.

I know. I heard Bill Clinton in Oslo, Norway in 1969 talk nonsense about Kissinger building a huge underground computer, a mile underground, a mile high and a mile square to track every human on the planet. He was paranoid that Kissinger wanted to take over a one-world government.

Zer0’s picture of economics is pure gobbledigook used to justify his Marxists world view which he learned from his Communist mother and Communists like Frank Marshall Davis.

"Could be because Hussin is a Commie."

I don't believe that's true. Obama very often refers to the "middle class", which is not a communist concept. I also do not think Obama is a socialist. He does not appear to push government OWNERSHIP of private business (ex. GM selling stock, Fiat buying Chrysler).

Though he apparently favors private business, he demands to control it for "state" purposes.

Rush linked Obama to the proper economic ideology a few weeks ago: "Benito Obama" - in terms of economic ideology, Obama is a fascist.

Obama is a fascist.

A fascist is a socialist who controls business through picking winners and losers based on who advances the fascist’s power as opposed to a communist to takes the property and central control over all means of production directly. A fascist will permit the ownership of private property as long as the property is used as directed by the regime and the owner is supportive of the regime.

Fascism is a step in the process of acheiving communism. Neither fascists nor communists can abide a middle class and Obama (with Clinton before him) is destroying the middle class as quickly as he can by collapsing the real estate values and market. Middle class wealth in America mostly rests upon real estate ownership.

After posting above I returned to the article to read the "Comments". Below is one of those comments:

"Joy on Maui
Thank you for pointing this out. I learned about National Socialism/Fascism in the post WWII German education system. It heightened my sensitivities where they needed to be heightened - with the express desire to instill, in future generations, the ability to discern political moves to further the goals of fascism, a manifestation of the corporate state. We are there. Sadly, most everyone around me is asleep. Thank you for your part in helping wake people up, although here it is probably like preaching to the choir."
