How about Cam Newton and the Panthers today? Big lead at halftime, down by 1 with 6 minutes left, yet the FG gets blocked, and ATL immediately responds with a quick TD. Had Tebow been QB, there would have been a Panthers comeback. Alas, down by 8, you knew the game was over. Newton completed 19 of 39 passes for 276 yards, with 2 TDs and 2 interceptions. Tebow was 21 of 40 for 236 yards, with 1 TD and 1 interception. Yet most pundits will tell you Cam Newton is infinitely better than Tebow.
Well said. If I dare quote from Glengarry Glen Ross in the context of Tim Tebow, "coffee is for closers." Tebow's inspired leadership is the impetus for Fantastic Finishes (which I wish they had for commercials). Tebow's stats certainly don't reveal the measure of the player...or, more importantly, the man.
As I was watching the blowout of the Packers and Raiders this afternoon, I kept an eye on the ticker. When I saw the score of the Bears up by 10 in the waning moments, I actually thought, "Tebow has 'em just where he wants 'em!" And, as a Cowboys fan -- I hate to say this...but -- once they went up by 12 with under six minutes, my first thought was how will they squander the lead this time?
That’s because they all have Newton on their fantasy leagues. They try to justify his numbers over Tim’s victories. Their lives are filled with “if onlies”. If only Cam had a defense, if only Cam had a field goal kicker, if only if only if only..... Go, Tim.
