I would. The only relative I have worth having doesn't need my money--she has a lot more than I do.
Over the years, I've known a lot of animals I'd rather have around than most people. One of my cats has been with me for 16 years--he deserves better than abandonment if something happens to me.
The "cat" isn't going to be spending the money. Someone will be spending it on paying for the cat's care and needs, making a contribution to the Italian economy.

I agree. If not family members, there is always charity-who buy the way will probably get the money once the cat is gone.
Anyway, I didn't read the article but if there are pissy family members, they might have a case. When Leona Helmsley died, she left her money to her dog. Family sued and I THINK won.
