They are free not to attend. They can school at home, they can attend private schools, they can attend computer schools. Nothing prevents it.

Free not to attend? Really? Are citizens free not to pay for the godless and socialist indoctrination of children?

In my county there are **no** private schools. Why?

Answer: The government is running a price-fixed and monopoly cartel that is giving its product away for tuition-free. If a cartel of CEOs did this with an industry they would be in prison. This hostile business climate for private schooling makes the creation of private schools highly unlikely.

Answer: High taxes for socialist and godless schools force both parents into the work force, thus making homeschooling impossible.

Answer: The poor quality of socialist schooling assures that parents are too ill-educated themselves to homeschool.

Answer: The values taught in the godless socialist schools make divorce and single parenthood more likely. Single parenthood makes homeschooling far less possible.

Finally, if a parents can not find a private school or homeschool they, and the child, are under threat of armed police action to use the godless socialist school and the taxpayer is forced to pay for this religious, political, and social abomination.

Personally, I will no longer have socialist school teachers as friends. Anyone who would cooperate with forcing children to think and reason godlessly, or to be comfortable with socialism is **done** as a friend as far as I am concerned. I don't care how well intentioned they are. Our nation's road to tyranny is paved with good intentions.

Those who oppose war are not free not to pay taxes for it. Why? We have a representative, constitutional republic. Your district voted for your representatives, they have debated the issues of what does and does not get taxed, and the anti-war side lost.

The same with other legitimately debated issues that have come before our legislature, including education. (Abortion, however, has never been debated. It has been imposed by judicial fiat.)

And those Founders in 1787 who pushed education as the responsibility of government were not godless socialists. Socialism had not reared its political head at that point in time.
