Dogs are omnivores but prefer meat, cats are obligate carnivores and must have meat to be healthy.

While this is theoretically true, I find my cats aren't religious about it: They'll eat cereal, ice cream, protein drinks, soda, heck, even beer. As long as I'm trying to consume it, they seem to believe that makes it a natural part of their diet.

LOL, this sounds like my dog, except she'll come up to you, want whatever it is you are noshing on, and then turn her nose up at it if you offer her some. Finicky, thy name is Thena, she should'a been a cat!

Same here, but I have to be firm about how much they can have. One of my furry friends is a mushroom freak, another likes potato chips and a third likes dried seaweed.

Ever see a cat eat seaweed? I’m going to record that and put it on YouTube someday.

But the point is they do have to have animal protein to be healthy. A pure vegan diet will kill them graveyard dead — IF you could force them to eat it.
