Same here, but I have to be firm about how much they can have. One of my furry friends is a mushroom freak, another likes potato chips and a third likes dried seaweed.
Ever see a cat eat seaweed? I’m going to record that and put it on YouTube someday.
But the point is they do have to have animal protein to be healthy. A pure vegan diet will kill them graveyard dead — IF you could force them to eat it.

I just happen to have a relevant anecdote here . . . My neighbor has beagles and only feeds them vegan food and supplements. One of them is 15 years old and looks pretty healthy, i.e., it looks well fed, happy and is active for its age. . . Neighbor’s pretty healthy too :) So I guess it can work . . .
Well, I wish some of you would come to my house and speak to my 5 month old Yorkie whose name is Prissy. She has the idea she’s supposed to eat EVERYTHING - like rip off the wallpaper and eat that, dig out a spot in the drywall and eat that, tear up paper and eat, rip off splinters outside on the deck and eat that, eat leaves, PLUS HER DOG FOOD OF WHICH CHICKEN IS THE MAIN INGREDIENT.
So far, I’ve managed not to have to take her to the vet to have her stomach cut open and offending “food” removed.
