She’s a feisty one. She should have been gone 7 years ago when she nearly died from a newly diagnosed Triad Disease.

I just lost one at only 14 to 1/3 of the triad - inflammatory bowl disease. The symptoms initially suggested thyroid disease, but his thyroid levels were borderline; liver and kidneys fine; no bacterial or viral infection; no diabetes. He went downhill very rapidly. Intestines so inflamed they felt log-like. Cancer ruled out. Responded well to one massive dose of injected steroids; no response to the second dose.

I'm sorry about your loss. :( 14 is still an amazing run and long life.

I'd never heard of Triad disease until my girl was diagnosed. Her main problem is her pancreas. She's been on Panikare ever since. My vet will also use the canine pancreas blood test on her, which has been very accurate. Any pancreas inflammation has to be handled immediately as it will cause her to not eat, which sends her liver and intestines into chaos. But I can spot a flare up pretty quickly by the way she acts, and the vet gives me the injections to do at home.
