Every so often the Germans have to destroy Europe. About due, I think.
As the old joke goes, “Why are there trees along the Champs d’Elysees? So the Germans can march in the shade...”

You are right, Laacher See was big like Pinatubo, not hemongous like Yellowstone or Toba. However, look what Pinatubo did to our weather for several years. Terrible snow and ice in the US east and 500 year flooding in the Mississippi valley. Then too look what a few puffs in Iceland did to air transport in the past year.
I suspect that Laacher See was either triggered by the strike of a super boloid around 12,800 years ago (SC time for the Firestone book), or it was enabled by the melting of the ice sheet between 18,000 and 13,000 years ago which caused the land to rise and change underground pressure conditions in northern Europe. Vesuvius also did some big things around that time frame too.

The way the winds blow, Germany is far more likely to have revenge on Moscow than on Paris or London if this ever blows. ;-)

"Laacher See lake" Redundant, how about Laarcher lake.
- Lake Windermere
- Sierra Nevada Mountains
- Sahara Desert
- Mississippi River
- The Rock of Gibraltar
- Table Mesa
- The La Brea Tar Pits
- Gondwanaland
- Bredon Hill aka "Hill Hill Hill"
- Torpenhow Hill aka "Hill Hill Hill Hill"
- Río Guadix River "River River River River"
- Summit Peak - that one's not even bilingual.

Unless the one in Yellowstone takes us out first.

Or the one in North Dakota ... in has not gone off for millions of years and is believed dormant, but one never knows.

Volcanologists believe that the Laacher See volcano is still active as carbon dioxide is bubbling up to the lakes surface,Mother Nature must be a Republican. She obviously hates clean air and water.

The most appealing prospect to me is relief of the pressure that might cause Yellowstone to blow

This volcanic area is known as the West Eifel Volcanic Field, not lake something or other. Further, its last eruption doesn’t even make a 4 on the VEI index. Known to emit ash and CO2 - that’s about it. Yawn.
See here:
Global Volcanism Program - tracks volcanic eruptions during the Holocene (present geological time period)
