A sleeping super-volcano in Germany is showing worrying signs of waking up. It's lurking just 390 miles away underneath the tranquil Laacher See lake near Bonn and is capable of ejecting billions of tons of magma.
This monster erupts every 10 to 12,000 years and last went off 12,900 years ago.
...
Volcanologists believe that the Laacher See volcano is still active as carbon dioxide is bubbling up to the lakes surface, which indicates that the magma chamber below is 'degassing'.

Every so often the Germans have to destroy Europe. About due, I think.
As the old joke goes, “Why are there trees along the Champs d’Elysees? So the Germans can march in the shade...”
You are right, Laacher See was big like Pinatubo, not hemongous like Yellowstone or Toba. However, look what Pinatubo did to our weather for several years. Terrible snow and ice in the US east and 500 year flooding in the Mississippi valley. Then too look what a few puffs in Iceland did to air transport in the past year.
I suspect that Laacher See was either triggered by the strike of a super boloid around 12,800 years ago (SC time for the Firestone book), or it was enabled by the melting of the ice sheet between 18,000 and 13,000 years ago which caused the land to rise and change underground pressure conditions in northern Europe. Vesuvius also did some big things around that time frame too.
The way the winds blow, Germany is far more likely to have revenge on Moscow than on Paris or London if this ever blows. ;-)
I know some guys who will spray vinegar on it, maybe that will help.
About to send an email to my niece in Vienna. “Come home.... NOW!”
Unless the one in Yellowstone takes us out first.

Or the one in North Dakota ... in has not gone off for millions of years and is believed dormant, but one never knows.
Mother Nature must be a Republican. She obviously hates clean air and water.
The most appealing prospect to me is relief of the pressure that might cause Yellowstone to blow

This volcanic area is known as the West Eifel Volcanic Field, not lake something or other. Further, its last eruption doesn’t even make a 4 on the VEI index. Known to emit ash and CO2 - that’s about it. Yawn.
See here:
Global Volcanism Program - tracks volcanic eruptions during the Holocene (present geological time period)

LOL, first thing that came to my mind as well.
Wonder what would happen if someone lit a match next to it?
We’re all gonna die (physical :)!....in about 90 yrs.
use those credit cards...... OBozo/Pelosi/Reid already did.
Or Mount Fuji...
It’s the V3.
I’m never impressed by volcanism anyway. :’)
Geeeeettttt readddddyyyy tooooo rummmmmbbllllle!
